A Whirlwind of Warfare

By Rochelle Arnold,

Jesus Gives Us Supernatural Peace

Interestingly and somewhat alarmingly, last night we had a white tornado touch down just on the outskirts’ of our neighborhood. It was small but powerful! It was only by the grace of God we were protected. I prayed fervently, as I normally do in times of distress. But this time it felt different. As the winds blew and the rain pounded, suddenly I had a peace in the very center of my being, in my spirit. Even though I knew severe weather was approaching that could possibly lead to a tornado. I felt that peace that passes all understanding and then the sirens blared as they normally do, but suddenly it got still and everything was quiet. That’s when I believe the tornado briefly touched down. It reminds me of when Jesus promised to give us a peace that passes all understanding, a peace that is not of this world.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. (John 14:27)

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

After the Storm

So our power went off and we headed out of the neighborhood to get some food. We saw a few trees down but nothing too serious, but it did look like tornado damage and not straight line winds. We later saw a homemade video of the incident taken somewhere around the area and it showed a small, white, thin tornado, dissipating over a cornfield toward the edge of our subdivision.

Our little village had what appeared to me minor damage, but all the same very troubling. Our end of the neighborhood was virtually untouched but just at the edge of the block some damage. So apparently the tornado touched down and bounced around precisely cutting through the neighborhood and we were unaware of it at all. Glory to God in the Highest! Although another small city nearby, Cameron Illinois, did not fare as well. What looked like a monster of a dark tornado tore through the town. Please pray for them.

So I looked up the symbolism of storm and tornadoes in my dream book. (Understanding the Dreams You Dream by Ira Milligan) There was a time when I had repetitive tornado dreams with multiple spawn tornadoes coming out of it, but I have not had any as of late. Although, my husband just recently dreamt about tornadoes.

Symbolism from Understanding the Dreams You Dream: Biblical Keys for Hearing God’s Voice in the Night by Ira Milligan

The following are excerpts and scripture from Milligan’s book:

Storm-Disturbance: Change; spiritual warfare, judgment, sudden calamity or destruction; trial; persecution; opposition; witchcraft; outpouring (revival)

White Tornado (like what was captured on the Port Byron video…see online weather news home video footage) means God’s power; revival.

Dark Tornado (like what was captured on the Cameron, Illinois video just one hour from here….devastated the town) Destruction; great danger.

Tornado sighted, but unharmed mean God’s protection in day of calamity.

Scripture References

For you have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall (an attack against the defenses of the righteousness) Isaiah 25:4

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (1 Thess. 5:3)

The Lord has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. (Nahum 1:3)

Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, even the Most High your habitation; No evil shall befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. (Psalm 91: 8-10)

The Secret Place

So I ask you today are you in the secret place of the Most High? Do you know Jesus? Now is the time my friend, now is the time. Not only does He promise eternity with Him in paradise, but we also receive supernatural protection, health, and favor right now. I don’t know why bad things happen to good people, but I know it’s awesome to have His loving hands around you and the pinions of His wings cover you through the storm.

He is ultimately the one who controls the weather, but it’s so important to pray over our cities and neighborhoods the blood of Jesus. Because just like the physical manifestation of the storms we see in our earth, the same whirlwind of battle is going on in the spiritual realm. Jesus has all the power and authority and just like the scripture says, “The Lord has his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.” (Nahum 1:3)

We serve a Mighty God able to calm the storms and able to protect his precious children. If you would like to know Jesus and want to accept him into your life here is a prayer you can say and if you believe it in your heart and speak it with your mouth He will rescue you today and make all things new in your life.

Prayer: Father God I come before you today as a sinner whose only hope is Jesus. I ask Jesus into my heart and life today. Create in me a clean heart and a right spirit. Reveal to me who You are and make me a new creature. In Jesus name. Amen
