The right attitudes that stem from the fruit of the Spirit we constantly exhibit or express are priceless pearls in the world system, it's wanton out there...they are very rare gems the world can't buy!

By SIXTUS ONYEANUSI

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, self-control. Against such, there is no law.”

Galatians 5:22:23.

It is God’s utmost desire for us to be first of all fruitful in life, that is, being full of the fruit of His Spirit in us as He detailed in the book of Galatians chapter 5. It’s important because those virtues depict His image and likeness in us; they vividly express the presence of Jesus living in us.

In Galatians 5, there were noted two main sources of fruit that a man must bear. They are:

1. The Flesh (Galatians 5:19-21).

2. The Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

The first is natural; it’s inborn in man while the second is super-natural; it’s imputed in a man when He’s born again of the Spirit of God.

The first which is natural is against the nature and life of God, while the second is the perfect will of God for His redeemed children.

As born again children of God, bearing the fruit of the Spirit instant in season and out of season marks us out clearly as the children of the Kingdom…children of light shining as stars in this dark world, and thus the Father is happy with us.

The beauty of bearing the fruit of the Spirit unceasingly is that it keeps us up above the law. Yes, the law in every sense. We would not be judged of no man for there won’t be any genuine reason or offense to lay hold and accuse us. And bearing the fruits opens up doors unto us, it positions us to succeed in every place, no matter the geographical location.

The right attitudes that stem from the fruit of the Spirit we constantly exhibit or express are priceless pearls in the world system, it’s wanton out there…they are very rare gems the world can’t buy!

They have it not because they have not the Holy Spirit. They know not the secret behind it because they know not the Holy Spirit.

The world may learn to cultivate some good attitudes and self-discipline, but only the Lord by His Spirit can impute the fruit-divine in a man inside his brand new heart.

Our Christian life is so sweet, admirable and enviable when the fruit of the Spirit effortlessly flow and manifest through us.

Imagine when people are being and speaking against you, yet you do not revile back but had long-suffering.

Imagine when people accuse and unjustly use you, yet you show them love, bless and pray for them.

Imagine when everyone expects you to be angry and impatient, yet you amazingly demonstrate meekness and patience with them.

ISN’T IT DESIRABLE AND ADMIRABLE? The normal attitude would have been the opposite, but the Holy Spirit, through our submissiveness helps our infirmities to maintain the right divine attitude and attributes.

Oh, Holy Spirit, help my life…give me the grace to show forth the right attitude even when everyone and everything is in the negative.

Oh, how we discourage people the more with our lives…when the people expect to see the beauty of Jesus in us as Christ followers, but they see the negative, they get discouraged!

Our lives ought to be changed indeed!

Our lives ought to challenge them really!

More souls are won over to the Lord Jesus than mere words. The Lord made it bare to our understanding in 1 Peter 3:1-2 ” Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, When they OBSERVE your chaste conduct accompanied with fear.”
The scripture says “the Kingdom of God is not just in words”, but in the demonstration of power (the power here means the express nature and overcoming life of Jesus Christ displayed by the Spirit in and through a born again child of God).

The world don’t think much of your faith or the big Bible you carry in your beautiful hands, even singing Hallelujah if you don’t back it up with the fruits of the kingdom life.

If you live the way they do, and are passionate of the same thing they are, you don’t have the wherewithal to turn them to Christ, there ought to be a clear difference.

Though the world is blind spiritually, yet they are not totally blind physically that they cannot differentiate between a hypocrite and a true lover of the Lord Jesus who’s truly standing for Him. Though they will hate those who oppose their devilish and worldly purposes, yet they know without a shadow of doubt that you belong to Christ, and have crucified the flesh and its passions…the life you live is clearly opposite theirs.

Oh, how many times we bring reproach to the Lord’s Name when our life is opposite what it should as people who call the Name of God, and are called by His Name.

Heaven mourns over the Christian who professes Christ, but denies Him in thoughts, in conducts, in reactions and in actions.

True Christians Are Wanted, Highly Needed in This Present World: apply in fruits. For personality description, see Galatians 5:22-23.

It’s not by power nor by might that you bear the fruit, but by the Spirit.

To really bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit, it demands total yielding to the Holy Spirit. It calls for hunger and thirst for those virtues. Actually, we stop growing and becoming more and more transformed from one degree of glory to the other when we lose our hunger and thirst to go beyond.

If you are satisfied on this shallow level of Christian life, how can there be a change.

Change occurs when you are challenged and moved to act and persist until your earnest expectation of Christ-likeness be fulfilled. And when God sees this kind of desire in the righteous, he will never let it go unfulfilled.

Your present level of Christian life and ministry is not where it ends; there are still virtues and glory to experience, there are still much more the riches of God’s knowledge and grace to tap into.

HERE IS TOO SHALLOW TO STOP!

Go beyond, press beyond in prayer, cry out, pour out your heart to the Father,…God’s word says that we are being transformed from one degree of glory to another, that means how virtuous we are today ought to be greater than we were yesterday, and that’s the way is goes daily…from glory to glory. Insist on the word of God, take time to pray, fast, read the word….it prunes you from every natural inclinations, and positions you well enough to receive of the Spirit His fruit and express it effortlessly in season and out of season.

When the flesh has more ground than our inner man, we tend to respond more to the fleshly and selfish desires, and thus fall into temptations easily. But when the Spirit has upper hand, we triumph effortlessly over the flesh, and the glorious and victorious life and beauty of Jesus radiates through us.

God taught me one day that the Holy Spirit in a believer is the Divine nature in him. And when he chooses to live and walk in the Spirit, he shows forth the Divine nature…making a difference!

The reason the Spirit is in you is that you may live like Christ Lord all day long.

Don’t be satisfied with your present level of fruit-bearing. Intensely call on the Father to give you grace. He desires us to bear His fruit in full and that our fruits would remain. Be planted in Him, thus you would be fruitful forever more. The psalmist declared, “As for me, I can only be satisfied, when I awake in your likeness…”

Will that be the cry of your heart today?

Let your life be humbly changed and challenging to others inside and outside the household of faith. It’s possible, no matter how much virtues you’ve lost in the past!

Childlike faith requires that I understand what the Bible is saying to me, but it does not require that I understand how God will fulfill His promises.

By Frank King

Recently, I was preaching at one of our local churches. At the end of the service and as everyone was leaving, a lady walked up front to me and asked, “How do you get childlike faith?” I was somewhat taken aback by her question because that’s not what I had been preaching on that day. On the other hand, Jesus said, “Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). So the lady’s question was certainly relevant.

I am sure that she is not the only one who has asked that question so I decided to address it in this article. Mainly, I told her that it’s rather ironic, but we must first grow up to become as little children. Let me explain. You see, when a person first becomes a Christian, he knows very little about how to exercise faith in God. Not knowing what to do, he does what he knows.

When I first became a Christian, for instance, I studied the Bible, scrutinizing every Word. Not because I was trying to find something wrong with the Bible, but it was because I was an engineer, and engineers are known to be sticklers for detail. As I studied the Bible, I subjected what I read to human logic, and I always adding one plus one to see if I got two. With time, I learned that what God says does not always jibe with logic, and sometimes when you add one plus one you will not get two for the answer. This realization was a sign that I was growing as a Christian, and in the process, I was developing childlike faith.

Childlike faith requires that I understand what the Bible is saying to me, but it does not require that I understand how God will fulfill His promises. To illustrate this point, let’s say you have a three-year-old son, and also that you have been laid off from work the past six months. Now your son’s birthday is coming up next month. So you ask him what he wants for his birthday, and he tells you. You don’t know how you will, but you promise him that you will get it for him. Your son is ecstatic because you have promised him that you will get him that prized gift.

He does not consider that you don’t go to work like you used to. He understands what you promised, but he does not understand how you will fulfill the promise. He doesn’t try to. He has a simple faith in you that you will do whatever it is that you have promised. It’s the same kind of childlike faith that we must have in God. We are not born with that kind of simple faith in Him. It is not incidental to our relationship with Him. Rather, we must first grow up and become like little children before we can have strong but simple faith in God.

The last word in the old Testament is 'curse' and it would indeed be a sad day if our dealings with God ended in a similar manner.

By beatrice ofwona

God is willing and available to explain our circumstances to us if we are willing to listen to Him. One such example in Scripture can be seen in Job 42 when the Lord finally appears and ministers to Job. We can see a conversation going on here. It is awesome to imagine that this great God, this omniscient presence, this Mighty one, is willing to listen to us. He is not averse to intellectually engaging us; in Isaiah 1:18 He invites us further, “Come now, let us reason together”, says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool”. Through Christ, our God is willing to listen to what is in our hearts and also forgive us our sins.

Whatever you are going through and are wondering how to get out of it, remember God is not the problem, you are the problem because you have failed to bring it to Him or if you have, then you have failed to hear His answer. To get out of your bewilderment you have to know how to talk to Him. But most importantly, you must learn to listen to what He has to say about your situation because He may say Yes! No! or Wait! Paul, a man who could really pray, took his thorn in the flesh to the Lord-three times! Twice God was quiet but finally He answered Him, ‘My grace is sufficient” and Paul learnt to live with his condition. You too must learn the times and know what to do, but you must be ready for God’s answer.

The Scriptures tell us that God’s people perish due to lack of knowledge. In our ignorance we may incur God’s wrath but this need not be the case if we engage in the Word and know what God is all about and how to access His blessings. The last word in the old Testament is ‘curse’ and it would indeed be a sad day if our dealings with God ended in a similar manner.

Job remained stable in the Lord despite all that he went through. His friends forecasted what he was going through as much as they could and gave their various predictions concerning his case but his faith remained in the Lord. This is the God you too should engage; the one who asks you, to come to Him, through Christ, with your heavy burdens and He will give you rest. This is God and you should know Him. If you go through the wilderness with Him, He will give you a testimony. No matter what you are going through, one of these days, He will come through for you because that is just who He is: faithful.

God has a plan for your life and His objectives and purpose concerning you must come to pass. The devil is the liar who comes to kill, to steal and to divert God’s purpose for your life. But you must remain upright and steadfast in the Lord and avoid sin which could make you lose your inheritance. Remember David could have built the Lord’s temple but his sin with Bathsheba stood in the way and this priviledge was granted his son, Solomon.

God is pulling us from the crowds and separating us from the rest for His name’s sake. When He wants to use you, He must process you; break you down and mould you until you satisfy His specifications. He is the author and finisher of your faith and therefore knows what is best for you. He breaks us up and cuts us down to size for His glory. God wants us to come to Him and repent our sins so that we are presented holy before Him. He wants to see us broken and contrite so that He may use us. This brokenness is what God admired in David. God knows the heart of man and how deceitful it can be, He is the observer of our thoughts and motives. In the book of Job, after God had ministered to Job, he turned to his enemy the devil and embarrassed him by blessing Job.

The enemy is the accuser of the brethren. In this courtroom, God is the judge, the devil the prosecutor and we are the accused; but thanks to God for Jesus Christ who steps in as our advocate and shows evidence of what happened at Calvary. Holding up His wounded hands he interjects. “Daddy’, look at me. Nails through my hands, thirty nine stripes on my back; a spear to my side as blood and water gushed out; a crown of thorns that dented my head. Daddy all for their sins!” And as the devil sees this, he flees from the courtroom

And the Father remembers that He who the Son has sets free, is free indeed! And the case is annulled.
Let Christ speak for you because the battle is really not yours. Romans 5:1 says, ‘Therefore since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ’. 8:1 of the same book further assures you, ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus’. Let God deal with your circumstances but only access Him through Jesus Christ.

Bless those who curse you and pray for those who pursue or use you. Forgive those that hurt you because you are of the Lord. He has placed His special mark on you through the Holy Spirit and will therefore accord you a special protection. If you have hurt some people, then ask for forgiveness and stand blameless before the Lord. Ephesians 1:3 says ‘For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight’ When you accepted the Gospel of Christ, you became His adopted son through Jesus Christ. For you to access Him, your life must exemplify this. Job in 42:10 prayed for his friends who had misled him with their lack of faith; this was an act of forgiveness and we learn that after this, God blessed him twice as much as before.

God knows why you are where you are. Maybe you have not released some people with your forgiveness; you are holding onto a grudge which has now become a part of you. God knows your address and when you forgive, His mercies shall follow you all the days of your life; wherever you are. The journey of salvation is about forgiveness and you must constantly do this. God will restore you but you must do your part.

Like Job, people will come to celebrate with you when you are restored. When you were in the wilderness they avoided you but they will now come to see the testimony that God has given you. They may have left you out of their gatherings because you were single or because you had been down for so long that they did not know how to behave around you anymore. But when God restores you, you will see them flocking around you; embrace them for they knew not what they were doing. There is a time for everything, and there will be a time for you to rest from the calamities and adversities that you have gone through. You will not die in your pain. God will provide a way out for you. And this time round you will be stronger.

But when He blesses you, do not forget to serve and thank Him. Do not become too busy for Him. Remember His mercies and remember the wilderness that He has pulled you from. Remember the disease He has healed you from, or the husband He has now given you and covered your shame. Remember the child He has blessed you with after many years of childlessness or the debts He has removed from your life and restored your sanity. Remember the tears you shed at His feet. Remember His mercies and serve Him wholeheartedly and He will bless you much more. Because Deuteronomy 28 tells us that blessings are conditional and that curses follow disobedience.

God is accessible; you just need to know how.

How has life been to you? Would you recommend your type of life to someone else? Life really can be full of excitement if you have the right foundation. This article tells you why life in Jesus Christ enables you to enjoy life

But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name – John 20:31 (KJV) (Emphasis mine)

Life without Christ is a life with crisis. Life is more than possession of wealth, position or power. Some people who have these and more are still miserable. Some of them even commit suicide. Yet in this life, there are some people who actually enjoy life. What is their secret? It is a life in Jesus Christ.

Having Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour is the greatest asset one can have in life. It is the right foundation to build on. It is possession of Jesus as your Lord, then other goodies that make life enjoying.

What to enjoy in Christ?

1. Life of peace

Absolute peace can only be found in Jesus Christ. It is only when you have Jesus that you can be passing through challenges and still have peace. Presently the world is in chaos but believers are in peace. Their faith is in Jesus who takes care of them in every situation and has NEVER failed them.

2. Joy

Life in Jesus Christ is one full of joy that is not dependent on circumstances but on God’s love and supremacy. That is, life bubbling with joy, come rain, come sunshine. To enjoy life is to be rejoicing all the time. This, you can achieve when you are in Christ.

3. Righteousness

Some people desire to live a life without sin but this goal has been far-fetched for them. They make New Year resolutions and fall short of them after a while. Jesus Christ gives you the power to overcome sin. It is practically impossible to live a righteous life without Christ.

4. Security

There is no complex in a life in Christ. A believer is secured in Christ. He knows who he is as a child of God. There is also no fear in a life in Jesus Christ. Insecurity causes people to do all manner of things that will make them not to enjoy life.

5. Contentment

Godliness with contentment is great gain. Greed is insatiable. It deprives people the ability to really enjoy life. These people spend their time, energy, money, etc trying to satisfy their greed, only to increase it the more. But in Christ you are content with every level per time and you will enjoy every step of the way.

Life is exciting when Jesus is your Lord and saviour. Believe In Him and have life through His name.

Just Praise Him
By Steve Countryman

I know it sounds so simple, just praise Him. Lately I needed reminding of that phrase. I had been told it before and had heard confirmation on it, how you are to praise God in the storm. In the middle of your troubles, trials, circumstances, problems, headaches, sorrow, grief, despair, depression and anger just praise God. While going through some things lately, I found myself praying over the same issues. I know that we are not to keep praying and repeating ourselves in our prayers like the heathens do, but the Bible also says to be diligent and persistent in your prayers like the widow before the unjust judge. Keep in mind that you are responsible for your own conduct, character and situations regardless how you ended up there.

I became somewhat fearful of committing the same sins and missed opportunities that caused me to end up repeating parts of my prayers. It felt like a vicious circle. That is when God reminded me to praise Him. Every time I found myself in a situation of temptation or trouble, if I would get my eyes back on Him and start praising Him that I would be delivered from it. “Praise Him in the storm!” Regardless of the troubles that you are going through, God is always good and worthy of your praise! “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” Think about that phrase. Look at what can be found in the joy of the Lord peace, contentment, quietness, happiness, rest, calmness, blessed assurance, faith, trust, hope and of course strength. If the Lord is full of joy than He isn’t worried, fearful, afraid, uncertain, unsure, nervous or excited. He holds your future in His hands. “What can man do to you?” “If God is for you then who can be against you?” Knowing that should give you strength. What a great reason to praise Him!

Now that is a reality check! The more I think about it the more it makes perfect sense. God loves to work with His children when they are receptive, that being a willing heart and joyful spirit. On the other hand if you find yourself mumbling, grumbling, angry, murmuring, whining and complaining then you give God nothing to operate with. You basically close off yourself to others and to God because your focus becomes inward. God inhabits the praises of His people not the complaining and whining of His people. Application is the key and lately there have been plenty of opportunities to apply that which God has shown me. My biggest problem is me! It is one thing to have knowledge and be knowledgeable but it is quite another to apply them in your daily life. Being a Christian and having received revelation doesn’t mean that it stops with you. Depending on that revelation and how it is to be applied is something that can be a blessing to other fellow believers. Now having received revelation and only sharing it with others doesn’t replace personal daily or regular application of it.

I shouldn’t be such a slow learner! Countless times have come and gone where I didn’t apply God’s revelation and wisdom from His Word to my opportunities. I always kick myself for having missed those moments and then suffered for them accordingly. When you praise God for ALL of the wonderful and countless things that He does and blesses you with everyday, you slowly pull your eyes off of your problems and fix your gaze on Jehovah Jireh, God your provider! It is the natural that wants to whine, complain and blame others.

It isn’t natural to start praising God in the middle of your troubles but it sure is the right thing to do! I guarantee that your attitude will change. Psalm 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabit the praises of your people. Now instead of being closed off and unreceptive because of your irritable moods, you now are open minded and receptive to God’s help and strategy for your life and life’s problems. Praising God brings joy to your spirit. Praising God brings peace to your soul. Praising God builds up your faith and trust. Praising God brings God to your situation. Praising God brings God’s wisdom and solutions to your problems. It is not that all of your problems will disappear, it is that by praising God invites God into your problems to help you get through them. Everyone has problems and troubles, both sinner and saint. People will notice your strength and wonder how you survived your troubles. That is when you let them know that it wasn’t your strength but God’s strength in you that got you through it!

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona. In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!

Do not be contented with where you are with God; seek Him more. Be the centrifugal force that draws people even closer to Him because they see something in you and wish to meet with this presence in you-God. Beware of the danger of decline and recline.

By beatrice ofwona

2Chronicles 15:1-2 reads:’ The Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded. He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you”.

It is God’s intention that we may commune and connect with Him. In our relating to Him we are not after something but rather after someone. We are not seeking for miracles, favor, jobs or wealth but rather for Him. We know we are in this place when there is a cry in our hearts, a hunger that consumes us, a thirst that remains unquenched, and a void that seeks to be filled and only He can do this to those He has called to Himself. Philippians 2:13 says, ‘for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose’. How then do we bring change to ourselves as individuals, as a congregation or as a nation in order to get to that point of hungering for God in this way?

Placards have been carried, people have chained themselves to gates and others have stripped naked to prove a point- all in an effort to bring about change; but does an individual’s life change after all this drama? Where really does transformation come from in an individual?

Transformation is not from something but from someone-God; knowing Him and determining that we will not sit at the periphery but rather that we will get into His heart. This entails that we do not become satisfied with the status quo because there are so many things wrong with our own lives and with the world as things stand.

A number of us get tired of the journey of seeking for God yet we read severally in the Bible that if we truly seek Him out, then He will be found by us. What we do not realize is that He is seeking us out much more than we are seeking Him. He is willing to let us find Him. However, the ultimate purpose of seeking God is not for what we can get from Him but to have the priviledge of being in His presence. Some of us may even think that we have already reached there and are complacent about seeking Him more. The sheer might of our God is such that we cannot have enough of Him nor can we fathom Him nor His mysteries. He who holds the galaxy in the palms of His hand cannot be known enough by us. This hunger for Him therefore is continuous for those who seek Him and it is so, that He may reveal Himself to us some more.

We are all carrying baggage of one form or the other. These rid us of the pleasure of moving closer to our God. There are things that we cannot even tell those closest to us about, things that we must rid ourselves of because they hinder our holy communion with God. Jesus came purposefully to free us from these burdens. It may be that we were sexually abused as children or that we have done something that we feel deeply ashamed about having done; deep dark, bottomless secrets that we carry around with us. It is time to free ourselves from all this weight because Jesus Christ took care of all our infirmities and conditions at the cross.

Do not be contented with where you are with God; seek Him more. Be the centrifugal force that draws people even closer to Him because they see something in you and wish to meet with this presence in you-God. Beware of the danger of decline and recline.

When Asa heard the Lord’s message in 2Chronicles 15:8f, he realized his mistake and removed all the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin. He also repaired the temple of the Lord assembled the people and offered sacrifices to the Lord.

As Christians, we too need a clean-up exercise. We need to put down all the idols that have now taken over our lives, all those things that make it impossible for us to seek the heart of God in faith and in works. We need to get back to repentance before God. If we think we do not need God, then He too will forsake us.

We have become too predictable and liturgical and have lost the freshness that comes with seeking God afresh each and every time. We have become ‘old’ and mechanical in our worship, we no longer stand in awe of Him who created us and has shown us mercy over and over again. We are more impressed by worldly things, brought together by things and are finally separated by the very things we crave. We remember our zeal, our passion, our tears and our desire for God as of old. We are now casual with Him. He has become a by-the-way in our lives. What a shame!

But some things we must die for! And one of those things is seeking for the heart of God!

2Chronicles 15:14-15 says -’they took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns. All Judah rejoiced about the oath because they had sworn it wholeheartedly. They sought God eagerly; and He was found by them. So the Lord gave them rest on every side’.

Don’t you think it is time for you to seek the Lord and find rest?

By Steve Countryman

The Bible is divided into two parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is represented by the country of Israel. The laws of God were given to the Israelites along with the blessings and the covering of sin through the required sacrifices. All the prophecies about Jesus and the end times are also covered in the Old Testament. The New Testament tells of those prophecies fulfilled through Jesus Christ.

The Old Testament prophecies about Abraham’s seed Genesis 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 17:3-7 3 Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, 4 “As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. 5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. 7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The father of many nations means nations other than just Israel.

God’s salvation plan through Jesus Christ, His Son, was first offered to the Jews in the New Testament. But upon their rejection of His Son Jesus Christ, God made His salvation plan available to all people of different nationalities and races. This too was fulfillment of Old Testament and New Testament prophecy. Matthew 22:2-10 2″The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. 4″Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’ 5″But they paid no attention and went offone to his field, another to his business. 6The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. 7The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8″Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. 9Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ 10So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

So God raised up another nation, a nation that was built upon His Ten Commandments. A nation built upon religious freedom. A nation without a king but ran as and set up as a republic. A nation whose founding fathers framed their laws, rules and governing body around God and His Word. Giving God the glory and credit for it’s’ creation and existence. They made sure that all of their foundational documents mentioned God as this nation’s center for their beliefs. This nation was the only one like it found anywhere on this planet. It is no wonder that it is the ONLY nation referred to as a Christian nation regardless what U.S. president says. A nation totally unique because its citizens come from all walks of life, nationalities and races. No other nation matches the diversity of the ethnic backgrounds of its citizens. This nation’s prosperity, blessings, military victories, high standard of living, blessings in all areas of art, science, education, inventions and medicine are all tied to God. This nation best represents the rest of the world’s people as described in God’s salvation plan in the New Testament. Yes, this nation is the United States of America. The Bible states that there are two groups of people on the earth. One is the Jewish people and all the rest are known as gentiles. Just as Israel is represented in the Old Testament as God’s Jewish nation so the United States of America is represented in the New Testament as a nation made up of all other peoples, a gentile nation under God. The New Testament is tied to the Old Testament and the Old Testament is tied to the New Testament so is the United States tied to Israel. Amazing isn’t it that down through time Israel has had plenty of enemies who constantly plotted their destruction and so it is with the United States of America. It is important that the United States of America always remains a friend and ally to Israel. God bless the U.S.A.!

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona. In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!

The law for the Kingdom of God must be known prior to being born-again, because such a life is not given a second chance (Hebrew 9:27). In the Old Testament, Moses laws were the guidelines, but today, Jesus Christ is the law.

By Carl Marshall

The two responsibilities that we are given in this world are to enrich the life of our body, and spirit. Our body’s desire may not be that of our spirit, which at that time, we may have already given privilege to the evil one, who uses such opportunity to interfere with the life we lead. In the beginning Adam and Eve had only one temptation, and that was a fruit tree in the garden of Eden, but today, we are overwhelmed with temptation. The price for sin is death, but Jesus Christ has paid that price, and has given us our day of independence. As babes we are not able to choose whether or not to be born, but being born of the spirit is our choice. Observe the foundation of Christian living (we must believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, Second is to have faith, and third, we carry our cross, but must follow only the Son of God) our needs are met by faith but not all our needs are known by us. God knows all our needs and so he told us to baptise because there is a need for it.

If we are baptised by water and the Holy Spirit, we will experience the Kingdom of God but is God’s Kingdom separate from the church? God’s Kingdom is certainly not separate from the church, since that it is in us; it gives us power to stand against “principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). Notice the uniqueness of the church, it is the foundation of Christian living, which is our responsibility but the Kingdom of God is authorized by Jesus Christ. Nicodemus asked the question, “can a man enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered him by saying “that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is spirit” (John 3:6), which is to say the birth of the flesh is distinct from that of the spirit. Thus, the two phase natures of baptism fulfill God’s promise to us that he would put within us a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26). Being born of water prepare us for such promise.

So then we see that being born and being born-again is separate, though we are innocent at the beginning of each life; a child is innocent, and so are we when we have received a new heart and spirit. The growth of a child depends on their leader, but so many have been led into the darkness of this world. Anyone that experiences the Kingdom of God is truly baptized, and unlike the children that are led into the darkness of this world, we are led to do the will of God. In this world, the will of God and the darkness of it is manifest spiritually. Therefore, the nature of sin still remains in our body, and it affects our souls but if we live according to the will of God then both soul and body will be in good health. The life after baptism is without boundaries and as the body becomes familiar with its new heart and spirit, our burdens are nailed to our cross as we live faithfully in Christ. Fighting the good fight of faith will lighten our burden as this is the way of Jesus, our Christ.

The law for the Kingdom of God must be known prior to being born-again, because such a life is not given a second chance (Hebrew 9:27). In the Old Testament, Moses laws were the guidelines, but today, Jesus Christ is the law.

Therefore, all things, whatever you would that someone should do to you, do you even so to them, for this is the law and the prophets (Matthew 7:12).

In other words note the things that you would do, and not the things that others do to you. Such a philosophy is for the children of God to love each other with the love of Jesus Christ. Realize the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) that it is the nature of Christian living. There cannot be any laws against it but neither are there any laws against witchcraft. In Matthew 7:15-20, Jesus zoomed us in on false prophets and the fruit they bear. He describes their fruit as grapes of thorns or figs of a thistle. False prophets will note the things that others do to them and retaliate in a suchlike manner, usually sorcery because laws are not set against it.

All the kings in Christ lives the life, Salvation. Salvation is strengthened by the testing of our faith. Observe that which Jesus said, “I will build my church” with the life, salvation and Paul said, “we are the buildings,” which occurs only by faith. Realize that it is communion with Jesus Christ that make us the church. Peter who stood steadfast in his faith is the foundation of it. It is through Jesus Christ that we are made one with his twelve apostles.

1 Corinthians 2:16 But we have the mind of Christ. Ephesians 5:1-2 1 Be mitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. Putting on the mind of Christ and being imitators of Christ is a daily decision for us Christians. This is not an easy task for you have to discard your past identity so that you can now identify with Christ.

It starts with the question of who or what defines you? Because what you allow to define you will also define your future. You must first eliminate all of the things that previously defined you. This is the process of knowing who you are in Christ and who Christ is in you. As a born-again believer your disabilities, inabilities, weaknesses, failures, flaws, faults, past reputations and past sins DO NOT define you. Your education or lack there of, job/profession/career or business partners DO NOT define you. Your successes, accomplishments, recognition or awards DO NOT define you. Your status, stocks/bonds and portfolios DO NOT define you. Your sicknesses, diseases, disabilities, disorders or addictions DO NOT define you. Your clothes, music, money, house, car, jewelry or fame DO NOT define you.

Your religion, church, pastor, preacher, minister or fellow believers DO NOT define you. Your friends, school, teachers, counselors, classmates, earned degrees, titles or courses you take DO NOT define you. Your parents, family, neighbors or family tree DOES NOT define you. Your associations, clubs, groups or memberships DO NOT define you. Your on-line personas, screen names, blogs, FaceBook, My Space or e-mail friends DO NOT define you. God knows you better than you know yourself and is fully aware of the awesome potential in you, His Son Jesus, so that qualifies Him to be the only one who should define you. You are here to fulfill God’s will on earth. Either by your obedience and love for Him or by Him using you in spite of yourself.

2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. One of the many jobs of the Holy Spirit is to sanctify us by changing us from glory to glory, which is an on-going process, that only ends once we arrive in heaven. It is in that process that the Holy Spirit works on our character. Shaping, molding, forming, creating and growing our true character to reflect God’s true character in and through us.

For us to put on the mind of Christ and be imitators of Christ we must allow Jesus to shine through us by the way we live our daily lives. In our daily lives people will be witnesses to the love of God that we show and share with others. By aligning and agreeing with God’s Word can we have the mind of Christ shining through our daily character.

Declaring out loud. It is critical that all your prayers, reading of the Word and declarations be done out loud. God spoke the universe into creation just as He spoke ALL things into creation. God didn’t just think them into existence but spoke them into existence. There is POWER in the spoken word! We, who are His children, are to do likewise. “Speak those things that are not as if they were.” You are to speak to your problems and your troubles. You are to speak to your surroundings, your environment, your daily trials and tribulations. Declaring the Word of the Lord to your situations, finances and jobs. Speaking God’s will at your problems. Not accepting the negative things that other people say about you. Not speaking anything negative about yourself or calling yourself names. Not speaking gossip or repeating gossip or lies about others. Forgive, release and declare blessings over your enemies. Declare blessings and favor over yourself, your family and your friends. Making your daily declarations out loud as part of your daily walk with the Father. Allowing Christ in you to be God through you. You are a child of the King and it is time you started acting like it! It is time to stand!!!

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona. In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!

The Bible in Everyday Life: Pride and Humility
By Hugh Houchin

In the culture of today’s world, pride is often seen as character strength, while humility is a character weakness. However, in the Bible 1Peter 5: 5 says, “You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Unfortunately, the contrasts of pride and humility are examples of God and the world’s culture finding themselves at opposite ends of the continuum. However, a short, but profound, word study reveals why God and culture disagree on what these two characteristics represent.

Pride

At one end of the continuum the Merriam-Webster Dictionary tells what culture’s viewpoints of pride are: “1: conceit, 2: justifiable self-respect, 3: elation over an act or possession, 4: haughty behavior: distain 5: ostentatious behavior, or pretentious and excessive display.” In contrast, using Merriam-Webster’s definitions, this is how God’s book of definitions, the Bible, feels about pride.

1- Conceit: “Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” Proverbs 26:12

2- Justifiable self-respect: “Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.” Isaiah 5:21

3- Elation over an act or possession: “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?” Mark 8:36

4- Haughty behavior: “And You (God) save an afflicted person; but Your eyes are on the haughty whom you abase.” 2 Samuel 22:28

5- Ostentatious behavior: “How blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.” Psalm 32:2

The problem God has with pride in the world is culture directs it inwardly, which glorifies something fallible. (I’ll clarify that later in the article.)

Humility

Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary lists three characteristics of humility: “1: low, humble, not proud, or haughty, 2: not pretentious: unassuming, 3: insignificant syn. lowly.” In my opinion, those characteristics can be construed to give a condescending view of humility.

Whereas, in the Bible, God supports humility inspiring Paul to say in Romans 12:3, “For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.”

In addition, in Matthew 5:3 He again supports humility by saying, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, (humble) for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Heaven and humility are synonymous, and that sort of says it all doesn’t it?

Yes, even though humility is not a natural human characteristic, and is contrary to culture norms; God commands us to display that trait. Micah 6:8 is straight forward, saying, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Humility is a God-given characteristic, with no negatives attached to it.

The “and to walk humbly with your God” is key, because God’s glory is of paramount importance to Him. Everything God does is for His glory. In Isaiah 48:11 He says, “For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; for how can My name be profaned? And my glory I will not give to another.”

When culture directs pride to self it’s sinful, because it takes from God glory that belongs to Him. In His perfection He has done it all, and He doesn’t share His glory:

He spoke the world and everything in it into existence. Genesis 1

He created Adam from the dust of His earth and Eve from one of Adams ribs. Genesis 2

He separated the water in the sea and the Israelites walked from one shore to the other, on dry ground. Exodus 14: 21-30

He flooded the entire earth. Genesis 6-8

He healed the sick and raised the dead. Matthew 4:23,24; John 11

He alone draws His elect to Himself. Romans 5:8

What does this have to do with humility? When was the last time you did any of the above? Humility is the result of seeing yourself in relation to God.

All scripture is quoted from the New American Standard Version of the Holy Bible

Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Ephesians 4:29-32 29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Words: so much more than I know. So much more than I would expect. So much more than I could ever imagine. So much more than I could ever dream of. So much more implications and influences than I ever thought was possible. So much power in the spoken Word of God. It is what we miss or dismiss as common. It is what has ALWAYS been in front of us all the time. It is the obvious secret of the Bible, hidden in plain sight. Spoken of in scripture and taught in countless sermons and Sunday school classes through time. Words, words, words the power of the tongue!

How blind have we all been to know what the Bible says about speaking words, blessings, curses, power of the tongue and yet not practice it as Christ taught us. God spoke the universe into creation. God spoke the earth and all that is in it including mankind into creation. Spoke, not thought, not mumbled, not guessed at, not written down but spoke everything into creation. God declared it and it became real and living according to His will and plan. Only God can create and change reality. Only God can make it real. The Bible tells us that we must guard our tongues. That we must take care of what we say, when we say, how we say and to whom we say it. Our words influence our surroundings, influence our behavior, influence our moods and feelings, influence our faith and trust, influence our fears, influence demons, influence others around us, influence the heavenlies, influences our spiritual growth and awareness, influence the angels, influence the Holy Spirit and influence the supernatural realms. Can we afford not to take our words more seriously?

Words can get you into trouble or out of trouble. Words can hurt long after a wound to the body has healed. Words can imprison or set free. Words can hinder or enable. Words can heal or harm. Words can build up or tear down. Words can bring joy or anger. Words can start fights or bring peace. Words can empower or disable. Words can convey love or hate. Words can hurt or help. Words can torment or liberate. Words can bring truth or lies. Words can be deceiving or reassuring. Words can be misleading or crystal clear. Words can be sarcastic and insulting. Words can be idle gossip or out right lies. Words can be foolish talk, belittling and demeaning to others. Words can be full of praise. Words can be thoughtful and polite. Words can be loving and caring. Words can be full of thanksgiving and humbleness. Words can be boastful, arrogant and prideful. Words can be exaggerations or straight on truth. Words can convey all emotions. Words can last long after we are gone. “For out of your mouth your heart speaks.” Even mumbling reflects one’s inner thoughts and feelings.

My church held a 40 day word fast/ feast. You fast or starve the negative words and feast on the positive words. At first it sounded pretty easy, so I thought. After a couple of weeks I have realized that it would be easier to not speak at all than to avoid speaking the negatives, to retrain myself. We all have had a lifetime of practicing speaking the negative and really need to learn to speak the positive. What we say is by choice. It doesn’t have to be a thoughtless word. Sometime no words are better than mean hurtful words. We must all practice the positive words more and more each day. We must work them into our conversations and prayers.

Too often we hold grudges against those who have spoke mean to us, harshly at us and hateful over us. God showed me recently that I am not to allow the negative things spoken at me and around me to “stick” to me. I am to deny, rebuke and denounce the negative from landing on me or calling me home. I am not to carry other peoples’ negative words around with me. They are not who I am and they are not part of me. Their problems are their problems and are not mine. Our job as loving caring Christians is to point them in God’s direction to receive the help that they need. God is the answer to their problems not us. We are blessed by God when He uses us to be a blessing to others according to His will.

Declaring God’s Word releases the power of God and dispatches His angels to fulfill His Word in the earth. Declaring your prayers out loud carries more power and authority than you can realize. It is important to declare who you are in Christ and who Christ is in you. You do that by declaring God’s Word in your prayers. By declaring who Christ is to you. By declaring who the Holy Spirit is in you. By declaring who God is through you. “Speak those things that are not as if they were.” Declare what God will do for you and your problems by speaking God’s Word and His will at your problems. By declaring God’s goodness to you by answering your prayers before you see the end results. Declaring the end result at your problems as if they were already done. Not telling God how to answer them but to acknowledge that He has already done so. Declare your thankfulness to God for answering your prayers before they are answered. Continue to thank God for His faithfulness in answering your prayers until you witness their completion. Declaring out loud is your faith in action!

Declare Palms 91 in the first person as part of your daily prayers. It also works well for someone that you are praying for to insert their name in Palms 91 in your prayers. I had heard once sometime ago that reading scripture in the first person makes your prayers more personal and intimate. The book of Palms is a good place to start. Declaring out loud what it is to be a child of the Most High God. Receiving the Spirit of wisdom and revelation each day. Acknowledging that Christ in you is the hope of glory. Acknowledging that Jesus can do everything through you today because He strengthens you. Acknowledging that you are His temple, God’s dwelling place. Acknowledging that you are His vessel made to hold His glory and be spillers of His Holy Spirit. Acknowledging that you apart from God can do nothing but with God you can do all things. Acknowledging that God chose you before time began for a time and place such as this. Acknowledging that your life is chuck full of His blessings and you over flow with God’s goodness in your life. Acknowledging that God shines the brightest through you when you let Him. Blessed be the Lord!

So carefully consider your words every time you speak. Make a conscience effort to remove all of the negative words around you and those from your lips. Don’t let negative words come near your ears. Music, movies, friends, Internet, TV and radio can discharge negative words in your direction if you allow them to. Don’t call yourself degrading names at a mistake you commit. Don’t allow negative words to be in your daily vocabulary. Speak truth and honesty in love whenever possible. A careless thoughtless word can do great harm. A positive word of encouragement or praise can be a big blessing in someone’s life. Let the words of your mouth be edifying to others and a blessing to God. A child of the King is easily spotted by the words coming from their lips.

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona. In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!

By Jerry Ousley

Easton’s Bible Dictionary defines lust as being “Sinful longing; the inward sin which leads to falling away from God.” It also says, “Lust, the origin of sin, has its place in the heart, not of necessity, but because it is the center of all moral forces and impulses and of spiritual activity.” In other words, lust isn’t some strong physically necessary reaction but comes first from within the heart of man the seat of our soul. We are not compelled to do it naturally but it must be given thought and then put into action.

That being said I also want to say that we most commonly think of lust as being a sexual “thing.” It is that but it is also the desire within us for anything. Lust is the origin of sin. John described it best in 1 John 2:15-17 which says, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” So what is lust? It is the desire or longing for someone or something to the point that we covet. If lust is dwelt on in our minds long enough it will lead to action and if we allow lust to continue in us we will eventually do whatever it takes to fulfill that sinful desire.

In this passage of scripture three categories of sin are listed and all sin falls under one of these three headings. It is the lust of the flesh the desire to pamper and take care of the human body, the lust of the eyes to have those things or those people that the eyes see and long for, and the pride of life the desire to be popular; to have fame and control over other people.

While engaged my wife and I almost gave in to lust. I tell this story because we are all human. We all are tempted from time to time. We knew that we were going to be married. We had set a date and it really wasn’t that far away. However we were also both Christians and knew not only from the teaching of the church but also from the prodding of the Holy Spirit inside of us that somehow we had to wait. So I’m not saying that we were special with God, or had any uncanny superhuman resistance ability. The desire was there. I would think, “We’re engaged and we’re going to be married. How does a piece of paper saying we are legal make any difference?” Yes, I asked myself all the questions that most others ask. It wasn’t easy, not at all. It seemed other couples our age were doing it; why did we have to be so different? But we kept ourselves pure and you know what; our coming together became a very special event on our wedding night, and I firmly believe that’s the experience God wants all couples to enjoy.

Naturally I can’t address all of sin today, not in the short time we have. So I’m going to emphasis sexual desire because that is one that is so misused and abused in our modern world, and actually has been all down through time. For far too long the Church has treated this subject as taboo and in so doing we have allowed the world to teach our children. No wonder they are so sexually active these days. We watch TV and it is expected by the third date to have sex. But who am I kidding; on many of the shows they’re in the sack together on the first date!

Why is it so wrong if it is a natural desire? It is because God made us different from the animal kingdom. Some animals mate for life, others seek a new mate each year, while others just live for the moment and “love the one they’re with.” But it is not to be so with mankind. When we experience sex with a woman (if we are a man) or a man (if we are a woman), there is something going on that extends way beyond the physical experience. There is a spiritual exchange between the two that God wants us to save for just the right person. It is the beginning of becoming one flesh one person. When we abuse that then each time we experience sex with another we are making it more and more difficult to ever find that one with whom we are to become one flesh. I’m not saying it is impossible because we serve a mighty God who can do anything. But just remember what Paul wrote in Galatians 5:16, “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

September, 15, 2011

Death comes in two ways. We get old and die physically and we die to our flesh during being alive. We get saved and have a new nature. We have a new driving force within us that causes us to desire the spiritual things over the natural things. Though this is a process, we must die to live.

A seed must be planted in the ground and die, in order for it to live and bear fruit. Just like the seed, we must die to live. As we die to self the more the spirit of God is able to be in control. It is like a balancing scale as one side goes down the other raises up. The more that we die or go down the more the Holy Spirit is in control. We are to be led by the spirit. We are to walk in the spirit. We can’t do this if we are in control. We must give up all of our control and let Him be Lord of all.

Mt 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Contrary to much teaching that is going around today, we must lose our life to find it. We are told by the world and even in many churches that so many worldly things will bring to us life. We are told that having a job, money, position, a nice house or car, vacations to far away places, are what life is about. This is so far from the truth. All these creature comforts are one day going to all pass away. We can’t take these to Heaven either. Sure they make our flesh feel good and build our pride and ego, but they are but a substitute for the real. These are all just a deception of the enemy to keep our focus on all the wrong things. We must become single-minded and focus on what does He want alone.

We are told in:

Mr 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

It is the spirit alone that gives life. The flesh profits nothing. Maybe it seems that way from a worldly perspective, yet we are not to be of this world. Scripture says that we are in this world but not of it. We are a spirit being just like God is, and we are living in a fleshly body. The flesh is not who we really are. Our spirit is the real us.

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The cares of this world and riches are deceitful. They keep our focus on “things” rather than on God and the things of the spirit. Many people have no concept of the walk in the Spirit. They may have gotten saved but they are still so alive in their flesh. They have not tasted the things of the spirit yet. I am not condemning anyone especially as people can only walk in what they know or have been taught. They can’t do what they don’t know. Many churches do not even tell people what is available in God. They teach the flesh doing things. The problem is this will never satisfy a person or bring real life to them. This will never prepare them for eternity. Many have never really tasted of the Lord. They have had a form of godliness but have denied the power thereof.

The real issue is that for the most part, people have a worldly temporal viewpoint instead of a heavenly eternal one. People live as though their life here on earth and what they do here or accomplish is the real life. The problem is this kingdom built by man will not last. It will die just like us. God on the other hand has us on this earth as preparation for eternity. The more that we draw near to Him and find intimacy with Him, the more that eternity will be for us when we get there. We are to rule and reign with Him in eternity. Our life here on earth is to draw near to Him, become like Him, learn that the best thing we could ever have is Him. We learn to die to self and resist the devil as we learn that neither is the right way to go. Heaven will be a real shock I think to so many as it will be so foreign to them. If we learn here on earth the things of the Spirit, it will be more of a natural transition as we learned to live in the spirit here.

Dying to self is no fun. Paul said that he died daily. I understand what he meant. I have learned that what I want or desire really is not important. We get so much prosperity teaching these days but it only satisfies the flesh. We can’t serve God and mammon though many ministries seem to be doing this. Seems it is not so much about the power of God, it is more about money so they can do the things that they want to do. Too bad that much is just works and doesn’t impress the Lord at all. He will ask us; “but did you do my will?” God’s perfect will is that we lose our life in Him. His will is that it becomes not about me or my wants or desires, but it becomes only about what He wants or desires. I chuckle sadly many times when I hear people pray. So many are asking God to come into agreement with what they think or want instead of spending time with the Lord in prayer, praise, and warfare, and finding out what he wants and then coming into agreement with Him. The church for the most part has this so backwards. Who is serving whom? We are to be serving Him, Jesus himself gave up his own will to do the will of the Father. He did what He saw the Father do and spoke what He heard the Father say. In other words, He walked by the spirit. He was led by the Holy Spirit. He did not do the things that He wanted. He was obedient even unto death. Jesus was crucified on the cross but do you realize that His flesh was crucified before that? He died to self so that he could fulfill being the example of what is expected of us. We are told:

Ga 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Ga 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

According to the above passages we are to be crucified with Christ and it be only Christ living in and through us. If we are Christ’s”, then our flesh with its lusts and passions are crucified. We can be saved but until we totally surrender and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, rule, and reign, we are not really Christ’s. He is not Lord of all of us, just part. We are still living to please self. We are still trying to build our own kingdom. In Heaven there is but one kingdom and it is God’s. Our kingdoms will not be there. Satan tried that already and got evicted. When we try this we are walking in agreement with the devil instead of God. Hard to look at it that way yet it is the truth. We are following the same path as the devil did when what we want is more important that what God wants. It makes us lord instead of Jesus being our Lord. We know that we are on the correct path when our heart cries out for God’s kingdom, power, and will, and the things of this world are not even desired any more. We can then be assured that we are walking by our spirit man instead of our fleshly carnal man. We will want to see His Kingdom established instead of our own. We will be as Jesus when he says, “Not my will but thine be done”. Can we honestly say that this is our deepest desire? If not then we have some dying to do so that we may find true life in Him.

I am a 62 year old Born-Again spirit filled Christian, that has been saved for 30 years. Jesus found me when I was suicidal. I learned real quickly that I was powerless to be in control of my life, so I let Jesus take over. He has chosen me to be a warrior for Him. WE win, if we fight His way.

Ordinarily, patience is not one of the virtues strongly desired, sought after or prayed for because of its nature. Patience is not glamorous, attractive, or appealing in the midst of congregation of believers as the gifts of the Holy Spirit and God the Father 1 Corinthians 12:-10, Romans 12:6 and James 1:17. And yet when you possess this virtue, it makes you stand out and noticeable amongst Brothers, Sisters and even those who are not of the same faith. When the degree of prevailing conditions are very hot or of such intensity that makes you jittery, desperate or loose hope of the promises of God, patience displays its qualities that enable you wait for the goodness of our Lord Jesus Christ. For without it, desperation can lead you to wrong choices and decisions that end you up in paths of destruction.

What then is patience? It is the ability to endure waiting, delay, or provocation without becoming annoyed or upset, or to persevere calmly when faced with difficulties, serenity, endurance, staying power, lack of complaint, persistence.

Galatians 5:6 tells us “faith which worketh by love”. This God kind of love defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 referenced in the scripture ends with “love endureth all things”. The revealed truth shows that your ability to endure waiting or delay is connected to the working of your faith. By virtue of being a believer of Jesus Christ, faith is the fundamental principle by which you receive from Him. In view of this, you operate by these four principles:

1. Live by faith – Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11

2. Walk by faith – 2 Corinthians 5:7

3. Stand by faith – 2 Corinthians 1:24

4. Please God by faith Hebrews 11:6

And because patience is connected to faith, there is need to possess this worthy character quality. What then is the blessedness of patience?

Bring Forth Fruit

Luke 8:15 tells us “but that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience”. The scripture deals with the parable of the sower of the seed, the word of God. Though you have a good heart and receive the word of God to act upon it, different kinds of tribulations, temptations and difficulties will surely come to test your ability to wait only upon God. For you need patience during period of germination to bear the fruit of your labor. Needless to say that it is during the time of waiting to bear fruit these various kinds of challenges seem to take a stand against your faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the greatest seed ever to be sown to bear fruit. The writer of this message and you are both fruit of the seed of Jesus Christ sown at Calvary. He is the word of God, John 1:1 and 14 sown in death for the sin of man who waited for three days before His resurrection. Today billions of believers in Him are His fruit and many more are being added daily.

According to 2 Peter 1:4, believers are partakers of His divine nature. And patience is one of the characteristics required of you. 2 Peter 1:5-7 lists these qualities. They are:

1. faith 2. virtue or praise 3. knowledge 4. temperance or self-control 5. patience 6. godliness 7. brotherly kindness 8. charity or love.

From the above listing, you realize that patience is connected with other characteristics desired of you to be a partaker of Christ divine nature. Possessing these other qualities in addition to patience enable you experience the fruit mentioned in 2 Peter 1:8. The scripture tells us “for if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”. The original word translated as knowledge also means full discernment or acknowledgement. For full discernment to abound in you, your ability to persevere calmly, endure and be serene is tested when faced with varying difficulties.

Fruit bearing doest not come on a silver platter. It places demand on your ability to endure, be lack of complaint and staying calm under provocation without becoming annoyed and being persistence.

Become an Example

James 5:10-11 tells you “take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy”, (emphasis mine). The three groups mentioned in the scriptures are worthy of example. They are:

1. Prophets

2. Them and

3. Job

These three groups represent the body of Christ. The prophets signify those chosen by the Jesus Christ to proclaim His Word. Job accounts for those who understand Deuteronomy 8:18 which tells us “but thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day”. Job also represents believers that have lost all their possessions including children and refused to curse, complain, and murmur against God even when pressured or accused wrongly by their wife and friends. He also represents the patience of believers that wait for deliverance and restoration by God. And them speak of believers who possess the capacity to endure different kinds of situations.

Patience is a quality that others stop to look, ponder and reflect upon for the purpose of learning when displayed in very intense situations. This is possible because patience is usually contrary to the norm of the society.

Have Hope

Romans 5:3-4 reveal the truth of how patience works together through the tribulations you encounter as a believer of Jesus Christ to experience hope.

1 Timothy 1:1 tells you that Jesus Christ is our hope. Jesus Christ, the living hope of those who believe in Him “endured the cross”, Hebrews 12:2. He also “endured such contradiction of sinners against himself”, Hebrews 12:3. He who died on the cross for the sin of man did not partake in what He died for

It was on the cross He endured that He declared affirmatively that “it is finished”, John 19.30. This statement refers to the work given Him by the Father. The irony of the truth is that the sinners of contradiction against Him were amongst the multitude He died for on the cross. His endurance is evidence that He went through things and not over them. This shows that believers in Him will also encounter tribulations and go through them to gain the necessary experience for their walk with Him.

Now Romans 5:3 and 4 says “knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope. Patience encourages and strengthens you during periods of experiencing varying kinds of troubles. For only in tribulation when everything looks hopeless that patience can guide you to keep looking unto Jesus Christ, your hope. The experience you gain from tribulation will teach you to depend only on Jesus Christ, your hope. He is the source who guides you most assuredly through trials to victory.

Possess Your Soul

John 4:24 tells you that God is a Spirit. Genesis 1:27 affirms that God created man, male and female, in His own likeness and resemblance. And because God is a Spirit, His likeness and resemblance He created is a spirit. Again, Genesis 2:7 tells us “the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”. The breath of life in Genesis 2:7 represent the spirit of man God created in Genesis 1:27. It is clear from Genesis 1:27 and Genesis 2:27 that the spirit and body of man were both created and formed by the Lord God. But when the spirit of man came in contact with the body, the soul was birthed and man became a living soul.

The mind, will, emotions and feelings of man are housed in the soul. You use the mind to think. And you use the will to choose from available choices and to make decisions. Emotions and feelings indicate how you feel towards circumstances and varying situations. The soul therefore makes you a free agent. As a free agent, you can elect to follow and be a doer of God’s word. Alternatively you can choose to follow the dictates and desires of your soul which are contrary to God’s Word. In spite of the soul being a free agent, you are expected to conform to the word of God. But this will not be the case unless you patiently make the conscious decision and effort to use God’s Word as a standard in all that you do.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, your soul can be transformed by the Word of God to patiently respond to the unexpected or the sudden changes in situations instead of reacting by how your feel. This is important because the soul of man is influenced and affected by varying kinds of circumstances you pass through while on earth. When you fret, panic, worry and become anxious, desperate and restless at the unexpected or when confronted with puzzling problems and difficult situations, your soul will act in haste contrary to God’s Word. But as you patiently wait for food to be properly cooked before you eat so does your soul require patience to handle and properly digest the varying circumstances you encounter before you make a wise decision.

To possess your soul implies your ability to surely trust the indwelling Holy Spirit to teach, direct and guide you calmly and patiently deal with issues not according to how you feel but in conformity with God’s Word. The soul may oftentimes make you to slip in obedience. However, the one true God has made provision for this kind of mistake in John 1:9. The scripture commands you to confess your sins and unrighteousness and be forgiven by the Lord God. When you do so, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses you from such sins.

The scripture in Luke 21:19 therefore admonish believers that “in your patience possess ye your souls”.

Delivered from Temptation

Isaiah 46:10 tells us “declaring the end from the beginning”. The scripture teaches that God reveals the end of the finished plan for you at the beginning. Despite this assurance, God does not show or speak of the various things including temptations that will surely confront you on the way to achieving the end purpose which He declared at the beginning. The natural question that arises is this: why should God take this position and allow His children to pass through such an experience. The truth is when you depend and keep looking unto Him, continuously abide in Him and patiently wait on Him alone, you will believe that no matter the intensity of temptation that arise up against you, God Almighty will surely deliver you.

The temptation Joseph experienced in the hands of his brothers, Genesis 37:18-18 bears testimony of how the Lord God patiently delivered him from the pit and the evil plot to kill him. The Lord equally made him to escape the wrongful accusation of Potiphar’s wife, Genesis 39:7-20. Although, Joseph spent years in prison as a result of Potiphar’s wife lies, God eventually delivered him and promoted to the palace through the special spiritual gift of dream interpretation which He had given him.

During the periods of temptation, Joseph endured hardships before he witnessed God’s redemption. The one true God who is all knowing, Psalm 139:1-6 and all seeing, 2 Chronicles 16:9 will surely deliver you from every kind of temptation if only you learn to wait patiently, depend, abide and keep looking unto Him alone. Revelation 3:10 tells us “because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth”.

Obtain the Promises of God

The promises of God are written clearly in the Holy Bible for believers of Jesus Christ to receive and experience. And yet these promises are obtained by faith and not through your feelings. God expects believers to receive from Him by faith. Given this truth, it is very important for you to understand faith. Hebrews 11:1 tells us “now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. From Hebrews 11:1, the phrase “of things” is common in both “substance of things and “evidence of things”. Thus the scripture could safely be stated as now faith is the substance hoped for, the evidence not seen by omitting the common phrase “of things”.

From this standpoint, the substance hoped for now is the evidence not seen now. The fact that there is lapse of time between when the substance is hoped for and the time it manifests makes it crucial for you to exercise patience and wait for it. Romans 8:25 clarifies. It affirms “but if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it”. The promise of God is the substance not seen now but hoped for which eventually become evident for you to possess when you patiently wait for it. While waiting, you must also learn to persevere calmly, be free from complaint and persist when difficulties and puzzling situations arise up against you.

Hebrews 6:12 also tells us “that ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises”. The validity of this truth is shown in the testimony of Abraham in Hebrews 6:15. It says “and so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise”. The promise of Isaac to Abraham by God in Genesis 15:4 and its fulfillment in Genesis 21:1-4 gives credence to the truth that patience is needed to receive the promises of God. Though Abraham went through trials with his wife, Sarah, they both learned to endure and wait for the promise of God. They also learned that any scheme, design or plan of man to circumvent the promises God in ways that seem right in the sight of man ends in failure and frustration. Be patient.

Perfect and Entire Lacking Nothing

James 1:3 tells you “but let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing”. The word perfect from the original translation also means completeness or full age. And the word entire also means complete in every part, whole or perfectly sound.

Believers of Jesus Christ go through a process in order to experience the perfection in Him. It does not come on a silver platter and neither can it be easily attained. This is because it comes with pain which may seem hard to bear. Some of them are the different types of challenges, temptations and tribulations you face while on earth. Each situation requires a certain measure of waiting, endurance; persistence and lack of complaint. The nature and degree of such trials also present you with the choice to exercise patience in our Lord Jesus Christ who has the final authority over them. He surely works out the expected result at the end. Without patiently waiting on Him, you may take another way that seems pleasant to your eyes but contrary to the path designed by God Almighty for you.

The expression “lacking nothing” indicate that your endurance, reliance, confidence and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ during times of challenges, temptations and tribulations makes you believe that all is well despite the physical evidence that say otherwise. This kind of attitude was displayed by the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:23. The scripture tells us that she said “it shall be well”, despite the seemingly physical evidence that her son was dead. In 2 Kings 4:26, she responded in similar manner to the inquiry of Prophet Elisha through his servant. The scripture tells us “run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, it is well”. Believers of Jesus Christ today can gain lessons from the attitude of the Shunammite woman.

When you rely on Jesus and endure during intense moments of test, He will not fail you. He will ensure that you do not lack the need you trusted Him to provide. But His provision comes in His own way and time and not your own.

Quality of Servant of Jesus Christ

Having being chosen as a servant of Jesus Christ, certain attitude is expected of you. Such behavior patterns which are essential for your spiritual growth enable you to function and perform your duties faithfully and in honor of Him. Nevertheless, your position as a servant does not make you immune to the challenges that face His children. It may rather attract different kinds of challenges to test your faith and patience in our Lord Jesus Christ who chose you to perform His work and not yours.

Acts 16:17-18 tells us “the same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, these men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. And this did she many days”. The girl’s witness was true yet the spirit by which she spoke was evil, wrong and wicked. Apostle Paul and Silas had to endure the cries of the girl in public for many days while waiting on the Holy Sprit to teach and direct them on how to deal with the spirit in her. Had they relied on their natural abilities, they could probably have agreed with the witness of the girl and thereby displease our Lord Jesus Christ. Waiting patiently on the Holy Spirit proved fruitful as He revealed the nature of the spirit which spoke concerning their mission. Following the revelation, the Holy Spirit empowered Apostle Paul and he cast out the evil spirit out of the girl.

As a servant, God’s children will come to you with various problems. And each one of them may require a certain degree of endurance to listen patiently, counsel, encourage and administer prayer effectively. When you fail to exercise patience, the desired result can be aborted and your efforts fruitless. This is because the behavior of God’s child which is contrary to the Word of God may be the central issue to be resolved. Apostle Paul and Silas waited patiently on the Holy Spirit for direction and received instructions from Him. Depend on the Holy Spirit patiently to minister.

2 Timothy 2:24 reveals the truth and tells us “and the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient”.

How Patience Comes

And now you ask: how does patience come? Believers normally ask for things. And when they ask, patience is not among the list. And if included, it may not be among the top priorities.

Even when patience is asked for, Jesus Christ may choose to answer the request through the situations you encounter. Patience does not come through the ways you may be familiar with. It is noteworthy to mention that though you may not ask for patience, you need it because challenges come whether you ask for them or not. The Holy Spirit manifests patience in and through you as evidence of operation of one of its fruit listed in Galatians 5:22. The original word translated as long suffering also mean patience. As patience begins working in and through you, change of fresh breath also starts flowing through you.

As stated earlier, believers of Jesus Christ:

1. Live by faith – Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11

2. Walk by faith – 2 Corinthians 5:7

3. Stand by faith – 2 Corinthians 1:24

4. Please God by faith Hebrews 11:6

James 1:3 therefore soberly counsels us “knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience”. And Romans 5:3 tells us further “knowing that tribulation worketh patience”

Conclusion

A relevant question is: why is patience a blessing.

In relationships amongst God’s children, situations arise that demand or require of your patience to effectively deal with them. If and when this character is not demonstrated by you or other persons involved, the result will be out of line with God’s Word. The occurrence of such instance can even lead to division or separation which causes a child of God not to speak to another Brother or Sister over a very simple issue. But the situation could have been avoided had one of you exercised patience.

And because patience enables you to carefully consider, examine and reflect on and over words spoken, complaints and uncomplimentary remarks in depth, it makes you to avoid taking hasty decisions. By this approach, you are able to have good understanding of the situation. And a wise decision can then be made. Though you may not fully know the rationale for the other person’s attitude, patience can lead you with the help of the Holy Spirit to deal with any unpleasant consequences as a result of the situation.

Hebrews 12:1 tells us “wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”. When you run without patience, you either stumble or fall down. The path of troubles, trials and test that you go through are sometimes designed in such a manner that patience is an inevitable character to possess in order to walk and run victoriously over them. Though you will inevitably stumble and fall down, you not have to stay down. Be wise therefore through the virtue of patience to avoid the unnecessary traps and things you bring upon yourself.

It is worthy of acceptance as a believer of Jesus Christ to reflect, consider, and understand the truth in 1 Timothy 1:16 each time you read or study the letters of Apostle Paul in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit through him directs you to pause and know that the revelations written through him came by patience and not by ease and comfort. In all honesty and sincerity the facts, principles and truth unveiled in his letters by the Holy Spirit teach believers in Christ Jesus a fundamental moral quality, patience. The lessons learned will enable you to become an effective vessel for the Holy Spirit to pour out from you revelations that edify the body of Christ.

As stated earlier, patience is not glamorous and self satisfying but painful. And yet its rewards bring refreshment. It demonstrates beyond any doubt that the one True God is eternal and faithful. He shows up at the right time in His calendar and not according to your time. The time frame you live in is far too small to contain Him. When you exercise patience in situations that could lead you to grind your teeth, kick the door, punch a hole in a wall, shout over reason and reject wise counsel, Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit will brighten the situation with the right solution for His glory. Through Apostle Paul, the merit and fruit of patience is seen as an example to emulate. The scripture in 1 Timothy 1; 16 tells us “Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting”. The original word translated as long suffering also means patience.

From the aforementioned, patience is a blessing when birthed by the Holy Spirit and applied to deal effectively with different kinds of situations.

Prayer

Heavenly Father strengthen, encourage and empower your child to endure and victoriously overcome many prevailing situations which question their faith in you. Do this that at the end your child be made perfectly sound lacking nothing in Jesus holy name.
