Immediately, the Spirit impressed me strongly in my heart to move the car!

By BILL HUNT

Can you witness to someone who speaks another language? Dark haired and dark eyed, this striking uniformed woman entered the crowded gift shop in Central Florida. The Hebrew on her uniform told me she was a traveling Israeli Army officer. An elderly American couple accompanied her. When I greeted the strangers by the impulse of the Holy Spirit, the elderly Christian woman explained she personally never took the opportunity to witness Christ to her Hebrew friend. They met her in Israel.

I saw this as a divine appointment from the Lord. Since, the officer did not speak English, I witnessed to her in the only words of Hebrew I knew. “Baruch a shem Adonoi. Yeshua ha Meshiah.” “Blessed be the name of the Lord God. Jesus the Messiah.”

I showed her a gold Star of David I wore around my neck.

At this, the pretty officer beamed a big smile and gave me a nice hug. Her Christian lady friend now pulled a Hebrew New Testament out of her purse and handed it to me. The officer, not a Christian, autographed the book in Hebrew. “Next year in Jerusalem!” she wrote. It is the Israeli war cry.

My family and I had moved to Central Florida to Marion County. I found work in public relations, which helped me to familiarize with the area and the people. As a family, we also worked together to deliver newspapers by car, taking turns. Monica rode with her mother to throw newspapers, or Brian rode with his dad. It was actually good family time.

Early one morning in the dark, a horrible rainstorm with strong crashes of thunder and flashes of lightning poured down on us. To deliver newspapers at a large apartment complex on our route, I pulled the station wagon in to a parking place under a big, spreading oak tree.

Immediately, the Spirit impressed me strongly in my heart to move the car!

The warning came a second time. I remembered how I had come to suffer two weeks of poison oak all over my face once in the past when I did not heed such a spiritual warning. So, I obeyed. I backed the car out and parked in another space up the line. Flashes of lightning illuminated the scene.

I delivered newspapers on foot around the twenty-one apartments and then returned to the parking lot. There, in the parking space I vacated now lay half of the huge spreading oak tree. A lightning strike split the big tree and knocked it down! If I had remained parked there, my car would have been crushed and Brian injured. For the rest of the newspaper run, my son and I praised God together for the saving miracle.

The pregnancy of our last baby took Mary quite by surprise, or maybe I should say more, by shock. “We just weren’t established!” said Mary. “I had to work, and it seemed like it must be the wrong time for a baby. We were still new to Florida. A baby was the furthest thing from my mind. I really felt sick during my early pregnancy.”

“I was five or six months along by the time we moved to Ocala. We wanted trees and grass, something that was more familiar to us,” said Mary. We moved to Silver Springs Woods in the very green Ocala National Forest. Mary had not yet seen a doctor.

“The baby you are carrying is a boy, and his name is Daniel.”

In our new church there was a young couple who invited us for dinner. During prayer, this young woman suddenly prophesied a sign from God, that what was happening to us was truly his hand. “The baby you are carrying is a boy, and his name is Daniel,” she said. “The name Daniel means God has judged.”

Later, the weather was very hot and Mary was very uncomfortable wondering what day the baby would come. Three weeks before the birth, Dad prophesied the baby would be born on October 20th. This gave Mary comfort. It turned out to be a Saturday morning at Monroe Regional Hospital. Daniel was born soon after noontime following just an hour and a half of labor. He’s been a servant of the Lord, ever since. God has his hands on the daily lives of men.

I loudly commanded the name, "Jesus!"

By BILL HUNT

On the last afternoon of our trip, we drove the long hours of flat prairie lands toward Tulsa. The Oklahoma sky darkened with heavy, purple-black thunderclouds hanging very low all along the horizon. From the highway, I watched the ominous black line of clouds quietly with a leery eye.

Our four children in the back of the station wagon traveled very well the long highway drive from Upstate New York to Tulsa. Most naturally, my wife worried about where we were going to live and how! With a phone call, Oral Roberts University placed us in touch with the president of the student association and his wife. This couple offered to welcome us into their home in the town of Broken Arrow. At least, we had a place to land.

Jim and Sharon, business students from Texas, most graciously welcomed our tired family into their modern suburban home. That evening after supper, in view of the weather, Jim instructed us on basic precautions for tornadoes. Not a half hour later, we heard the terrible sound of a heavy locomotive coming toward us unseen in the pitch darkness of the rainy thunderstorm. There was no other warning. Radar did not detect the Broken Arrow Tornado.

“That’s it!” said Jim.

To lessen the pressure on the structure of the house, Jim calmly walked to his front door and opened it. He walked to his back glass sliding door and opened that. I knew he was praying with great faith. On his signal, Mary took our youngest two children, Emily and baby Joanna, to a front bedroom closet. I lifted our other two children, Monica and Brian, one under each arm, and carried them down the hall into a back bedroom closet.

The tornado hit!

I watched as the ceiling in the bedroom outside my closet swelled and buckled. My ears popped! A brass pole lamp lost its spring tension from the ceiling and fell to the floor with an alarming crash.

I loudly commanded the name, “Jesus!”

Through the rainy night with no electric lights, we waited for the first rays of morning daylight to inspect the surrounding neighborhood. Most of the houses ripped open and crumbled, looking like a city dump. The living room curtains from the house behind us ended up in our front yard on the other side. In the neighboring house beside us, the shattered sheet glass from the back storm-door flew through the big room and stuck like a hundred sharp, tiny daggers into the back of the ornate, wooden front door. It looked like a visit from hell. The streets flooded with water from broken water mains.

Jesus is God of the storms!

The miracle revealed in our host’s home: only one 2×4″ strut in the attic snapped as the tornado sucked and buckled the roof. It was apparent! Of all the dozen houses in the neighborhood, the tornado actually jumped over our house as we called out the name “Jesus!”

I spent the first three days of my new life in Oklahoma directing curiosity traffic with the police away from the damaged Broken Arrow suburb. I found all this neighborhood devastation troubling and regretful. But I also learned right then, whatever the devil throws at you, deflect it with prayer!

By Robert Kiser

I was living in Oregon and most of my family at the time was in California. One morning I received a phone call from my mom. She said that my sister Leslie had left a note indicating she might not be alive at the end of the day and she wanted me to take care of her kids. This was not something that I took lightly, but what could I do? I was in Oregon and she was in California who knows where? I started to pray! I asked the Lord if He could just have Leslie come up to Oregon so I could tell her about Him.

About an hour later my mom called again telling me that Leslie had called and she wanted to come up to Oregon to see me. Wow! Talk about a quick and powerful answer to a prayer! I was excited! I was supposed to go and pick her up at the Greyhound bus station. I was there early and my sister walked in the front door and not where the buses unload. The bus had not even arrived yet. I did not question her about it. Instead I suggested that we go into the coffee shop next door and I would buy her a cup of hot chocolate and myself a cup of coffee and we could talk. She started to talk about her husband Ruben saying that he knew how I felt about him and he wanted me to forgive him. I laughed and said I was in Oregon and I didn’t expect to even see him for a long time. Leslie said “He is here now”

Now the last time I had seen him was before I was a Christian. He had blacked my nephews’ eye and he was only five years old at the time and he pushed my mom. I knew he had hurt my sister in the past, but I looked at it back then like it was her own fault for staying with him. Anyway after this event with my mom and my nephew I had decided to kill him. I loaded my gun and went into the house where he was at. My sister and he lived in a split level house with them on the top floor and my parents on the bottom floor. I met my mom in the stairway and of course she was alarmed and wanted to know what I was up to. Anyway my mom talked me out of it and soon after I moved to Oregon. Not long after moving to Oregon I ended up giving my life to the Lord and forgot all about Rueben. Out of sight out of mind I guess. So here I am talking to my sister who I am afraid is on the verge of ending her own life and she wants me to forgive Rueben. The last time I seen him I was ready to shoot him. Talk about some mixed emotions! I went outside with my sister and met him. Rueben asked me to forgive him and I said I would. They both stayed with me for several days. Rueben stuck to my sister like glue. Everything I wanted to tell her about Jesus I had to say in front of him. That was very hard for me, but the Lord took all of the anger that I had against him away. I still do not trust the man, but I am glad to say I don’t hate him either.

Here I was excited to be able to tell my sister about Jesus and the Lord himself was doing a work on me. I got much more than I had asked for and the experience was not pleasant. However I am very grateful that the Lord had much more planned than I had thought at the beginning.

Nov 17, 2007

By: Rick L. King

Years ago I had a motorcycle that I would ride often. One particular day I had quite an experience.

I had friends that lived six miles away from the little town in Illinois where I was living at that time. I went for a visit and had a great time as usual. On the way home I had an impression to watch out ahead. Here I was peacefully riding the motorcycle and here is this alarm in my spirit. I looked ahead yet couldn’t see anything that would be a danger. I didn’t reduce speed as I was actually going the speed limit. Then, all of the sudden I saw a dead dog in the middle of my lane. By the time I saw the dog it was too late. My front tire hit the dog and I went airborne. The back tire never hit the dog. The motorcycle was weaving back and forth in mid air and I had no control over where it was going to go. I saw approaching cars and thought I’m in trouble here. I wasn’t sure that I was going to live through this one. I got a surprise.

All the sudden the motorcycle quit weaving and landed gently on the pavement at 55 miles per hour. I rode on into town and then just stopped and parked. I got off the bike and shook once I had realized what had really happened. I looked at the front fork (the part that holds the front wheel on and has shock absorbers of sort for those unfamiliar with what a fork is) and noticed that it had collapsed further than ever as I saw the clean spot on the metal. I can’t prove it, nor did I see anyone or thing, but I knew that God had protected me by either sending an angel or just intercepting me in my dilemma. Either way, I know that God did intervene in some way or I don’t believe that I would be here today to write this.

I sure learned a great lesson that day also. When the Holy Spirit puts a word of caution in me, I will listen next time.
Please contact me at (r_king60) r_king60@hotmail.com if you have any comments. Thank You.

I am a 60 year old Born-Again spirit filled Christian, that has been saved for 30 years. Jesus found me when I was suicidal. I learned real quickly that I was powerless to be in control of my life, so I let Jesus take over. He has chosen me to be a warrior for Him. WE win, if we fight His way.

By Debbie Kay

“Well, I’m just waiting for a miracle.” How often have you heard someone say that? How often have you said it? “If God wanted me to have a new car he would give it to me?. If it’s in his will for me to have a good job he will make it happen” If your staring out the window waiting for that shiny new sports car to come tearing up the drive, then you should probably get comfortable, since my best guess is your going to be sitting there looking down the road for a long time. By the same token if you are waiting everyday for someone to knock on the door and say “Your Hired!” your probably going to get mighty hungry before it happens.

You can insert here whatever problem or situation you may be waiting on God to take care of. You might say, well of course you can’t just pray up a new car or a new job, but I’m very sick, or I’m believing in God to pay off my bills, or fix my children.. Any one of a thousand scenarios would fit, and there are just as many excuses as to why we are still sitting by the window waiting for God to take care of it.

So if God wants us to be financially secure, healthy with happy secure and healthy children, why is it that we are still waiting? What exactly are we waiting on?

John tells of a man in Jerusalem that was very sick and had been so for thirty eight years. There was a pool there known as Bethesda. It was known that in certain seasons an angel of the Lord would come and stir up the waters. The first person to step in would be completely cured of whatever ailment he was afflicted with. The Lord set up the situation in which the problem of those around could be “fixed” but there was a stipulation that must be met in order to get the miracle the man had spent thirty eight years waiting for. He had to be the first in the pool.

Now Jesus came by the pool one day and saw the man, knowing he had been there for a long time, just waiting on the side of the pool, (looking out the window and waiting) He asked the man, “Do you even wish to be well?” I kinda wonder if Jesus might have been shaking his head thinking, well, I’ve stirred up the waters over and over for you and I’ve sent my angels to show the way to your healing, but your still sitting here, just waiting. What are you waiting for?

The man answered Jesus by saying that he did indeed want to be healed, but each time opportunity knocked, or the waters were stirred, someone would step over him and get there first. Someone else always got ahead of him. He complained that there was just never anyone there to put him in the pool.

Are we complaining that if someone else would just do something or the other, the problems in our lives would be fixed? Are we saying, well God of course I want to be financially secure, and I’m waiting on that great opportunity, but you see when it happens, I just never have anyone that will help me take advantage of it first. Then someone else steps over me and I just keep on waiting.

Now the man waiting at the pool surely believed there was miraculous healing powers in the water when the angel stirred it up. After all he had been waiting and watching for thirty eight years and had no doubt seen the many other sick stepping over him and being healed. He believed God could fix his problem but he was never quite ready to step into the water when God prepared it for him. Now maybe he couldn’t walk, maybe he was so very sick and weak that he was just always beaten to the water by those not quite as sick as he. I just believe in all that time, I would have squirmed my way to the edge of that pool, and been hanging on the edge with one finger for the moment God presented the solution so I could jump on it before anyone else could even blink! Thirty eight years is a lot of time to ready yourself for action, when God presents the way.

When the man told Jesus he just couldn’t get to the water. Jesus told him to get up, pick up his mat and walk. Take action!! Get up. He told him to get away from the window and Get UP!

“Pick up your mat.” Clean up your mess. Now my Mother might argue that this is a biblical commandment to make up your bed and maybe it is. Maybe Jesus was telling us to clean things up around us and be ready when I tell you what to do. Pick up your mat and get ready! Get your affairs in order so that you are ready to walk when Jesus says to walk. You’ll notice so far he didn’t say lay there and wait until the water comes to you!

“Arise pick up your mat and Walk!” Step out and start walking. Stop sitting by the window waiting for your miracle to run up in the front yard like Ed McMan with a big check! Start walking. God can’t guide you in the right direction if you are sitting still. You might make some wrong turns, but as long as you are walking God can guide your steps, even turn you around if you get off track.

Stop now waiting on someone else to change so that your circumstances get better, begin changing yourself. Don’t wait and pray that God instructs someone else to put you in the pool, begin praying that God will give you the strength and wisdom required to ‘get in the pool’ yourself, so to speak.

Don’t sit in front of the TV day in and day out waiting on the right numbers to come up in the lottery so that your bills are paid off. Get a job, even if you are flipping burgers, your on your way to paying your debt. Who knows, God could have already stirred the waters at McDonalds and the man waiting to give you your dream job eats BigMacs daily! You just need to jump in the pool to meet him!

If your hurting, find someone that is hurting worse and lift them up. There is no greater blessing than to be a blessing to someone else.

The bottom line is, stop looking out the window daydreaming about the day that your miracle appears. Get up, pick up your mess and start walking!

By Cindie York

Psalms 66:5

Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he does for his people!

Miracles are awesome unexplainable events that occur by the divine power of God. The purpose of a miracle is to show the wonderful, mighty power of God. They provide great opportunities for testimonies and witnessing about God’s mercy, power, and love.

Miracles are life-changing events and can come at any time and in different forms. The type of the miracle depends on the individual need. Healing of an illness, deliverance from an addiction, and financial miracles are just some examples. The possibilities are endless. Regardless of the type of miracle given, it will always increase faith in God. The witnessing of these miracles has a strong impact on the doubter, who finds it necessary to see before they will believe.

Miracles provide opportunities for second chances, new outlooks, and better qualities of life. Miracles occur by faith, through prayer, and the moving of God’s Spirit.

There are countless miracles mentioned in the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, from a donkey that speaks, to the resurrection of the dead. God is still in the miracle working business. There are still blinded eyes receiving sight, crippled legs that are walking for the first time, and yes, even people being raised from the dead. Not just healings, but every sort of awesome event.

God has no respect of persons, so if He is healing one person, one group, one area, He can surely do it for another. If God is transforming situations in one place, He can do it in another. We are the ones who put the limits on an unlimited God. We are the ones that tend to bind the hands of the Miracle Worker with doubt and unbelief.

We must have full trust and faith in God to meet us at our needs and to answer our earnest prayers. We have to expect that He is going to work these miracles. Faith is the essential aspect in which these miracles can occur and be performed. Believe that God will deliver. Believe that the Great Physician can accomplish any task, and bring restoration to any broken area.

We serve an amazing God, who can do anything, at any time. The scriptures tell us that with God all things are possible, not some things, not the simple or easy things, but all things are possible. Never look at a situation, illness, or need as hopeless.

Personally, I have witnessed miracles. I have been a recipient of miracles. Members of my family have received miracles of divine healing and deliverance, among other extraordinary interventions from the Lord God Almighty. Was the power of God made manifest with strong impact? Absolutely! Was the experiences life-changing? Definitely! Do I believe in miracles? You better believe I do!

I have been a Christian for 18 years. I am one of the Sunday School teachers at our local church. I enjoy Bible study and growing in the knowledge of God’s word. I literally want to soak up God’s Word like a sponge.

By Fenny West

In Ex 33 God was not pleased with the children of Israel and twice referred to them as ‘stiff necked people’. Ever wondered why?

“Tell the Israelites, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go with you even for a moment, I might destroy you.

Undoubtedly, Miracles are great, spectacular, mind-bowing, supernatural, convicting and convincing. But they are not a daily occurrence and we should not expect them daily. God gives miracles when He wants to. He is a sovereign God and does the miraculous according to His will. We need to develop our intimacy with Him and our faith in Him and learn to live by faith, appropriating the promises; obtaining them with the heavenly currency of faith.

Often we say ‘If I can just see a miracle I will believe.’ We forget that miracles do not make beliefs. You can see a miracle today and resort to doubt tomorrow when you’re faced with a different situation or even a similar situation.

The Israelites saw God at work first hand as He humiliated the Egyptians with the ten plagues while they were spared of the locusts, lice, flies, frogs, darkness, death of first born etc But when they came to the red sea and looked back and saw the Egyptians advancing, they panicked, grumbled and wanted to stone Moses.

God brought them out from Canaan to Egypt because of an approaching famine, gave them favour because of Joseph who had been sent ahead. They were settled in the best part of Egypt at that time-Goshen, before another Pharaoh who did not know Joseph came to power. They were maltreated from then on and they cried to the Lord and he heard their cry and decided to rescue them by sending Moses to Pharaoh to ‘let my people go!’ He was to take them to a Land flowing with milk and honey. Unfortunately they thought it would be milk and honey and partying all the way along. But God had a different plan- that of character building, patience, integrity, consecration, devotion, worship, intimacy, unity, love, selflessness, which were foreign to them.

And we too can often be like them. Why? Because they are a mirror of those who claim to believe in God, or God’s people. Only very few followed Him whole-heartedly, like Joshua and Caleb.

As they threw tantrums, Moses cried out to the Lord and the Lord told him to use his authority symbolized by the rod he had. He used the rod and the red sea was parted and they all walked through on dry ground. It was the first time that a sea had been parted. A highway, express way was created in a twinkling of an eye as the sea bed congealed and the waters stood at attention on both sides as they marched through. How awesome a sight! Millions of people crossed over to the other side. And when the Egyptians dared to continue in their pursuit venturing into the blood trap, Moses used his authority gain, stretching his rod over the highway which closed instantly engulfing the pursuing army of enemies. Moses’ prophetic utterance: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” was fulfilled right before their eyes.

Some people see miracles and they explain it away with illogical logic. For instance they say the red sea was not deep and people could easily cross over. But they forget that it was in that same ‘not so deep sea’ that the Egyptian army was drowned.

Others believe the miracles but it’s just a passing phase, it does not build faith in them. They want the miracles all the time and have made God a celestial Santa or fairy god mother that they could make a wish to. and realise their dreams But God has something better- faith in God, growing in grace.

You would think that the difference God put between the Israelites and the Egyptians, His protection and provision would settle the issue of trust once and for all but it was not to be so. Soon they met with another problem or test of faith- bitter water and then no water and see the result.

They had just seen the parting of the red sea and were euphoric, singing:

4Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.

5The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

6Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

7And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

. Ex.15:4-7-18

They not only sang but danced too, gyrating, some doing acrobatics as they rejoiced over what the Lord had done, and rightly too. (Ex.15:20-21) But a few miles down the road they were tested again and failed the test. They encountered bitter water when they got thirsty. This is akin to the repeated trials we face on our way to the Promised Land.

They soon forgot that God was still in control. He had brought them there. He knew what He was doing. They forgot that Moses who led them there would have been thirsty too and had to do something about the bitter water. Some perhaps thought they could only get results by complaining. Little wonder we are told that they only knew the acts of God whilst Moses knew the ways of God. Moses knew why God gave the miracles. Moses knew the faithfulness of God. He knew God was refining them, training them for reigning like He does to us now from time to time. (Ex.15:22-25)

There was another water test in the desert of Sin which they failed again

4 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone me.”

You would wonder why they had to face another water test. They had not passed the previous test.

This is why we repeatedly encounter certain tests because we have not passed them and God is fair and would not let us skip a grade. It is in our own interest though we would be hard-pressed to admit it

Strike the Rock

In Horeb they became thirsty again and there was no water and God told Moses to strike a rock and water gushed out. Ex17:5-7

Speak to the Rock

Later on another occasion they were faced with a similar test and Moses got into trouble ( failed his own test)by striking the Rock instead of speaking to it. That Rock we now know symbolized Jesus Christ who was crucified once and for all. Striking the Rock twice was like crucifying Him afresh. (Number 20:2-13 NKJV). Paul gave us that revelation here:(1Cor.10:1-5 NKJV)
Let us mix what we hear and the miracles we see with faith so that we would have God’s promised rest.

The Promise of Rest

1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith

Let’s not be like the 10 spies who saw the giants and forgot giant grapes they harvested and the Big God they served.

We need to watch what we say When you are tried. Lets us not say: “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Let us select a leader and return to Egypt.” (Num13:31-33NIV)! In the passages above, the Israelites craved to satisfy the desires of the flesh, no matter what and failed to see that they were being tested. They failed the test again and again by complaining and wanting to go back to Egypt- a picture of the world. We too will be so tempted to go back to the world when we face temptations or tests. That is why the scriptures were written for our example, teaching , correction, instruction in righteousness so that we would not be found wanting.

Let us speak words of faith. Confess the Promises. Take sides with God, quiet our roaring voices o doubt. with ‘God is able and we are able with Him.’

Let be like Joshua and Caleb who brought a good report in spite of the giants they saw.

30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” (Num13:30, Num 14:7-10 Num14:27-30)

Your salvation itself is a miracle; in fact the miracle of miracles. That you and I who were once dead in sin , without hope, groping in the dark, imprisoned by the devil, enslaved, hell-bound, blind, received our sights, were raised from the dead; enemies of God are now friends of God, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ; that is a miracle. We need to remind ourselves from time to time, especially in times when we don’t have things our own way or when don’t get what we want when we expect them. ‘Man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ‘The kingdom of God is more than food and drink.’

It is all about Him and not us. He has good plans for us regardless of what we face. His plans remain good and all things work together for the good of those who are called according to His purposes. We are in training for reigning and if we suffer with Him we will also reign with Him.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Rom.8:18NKJV

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.2Cor.3:188 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed2Cor4.8-916 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,(2Cor.4:17)

3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

(2Ttim.2:3-4 KJV)

Thank God when He gives you a miracle but don’t make a shrine on the altar of miracles. Grow up! Grow in grace. Grow in faith for daily living! Miracles do not make belief as we have seen from the foregoing. Having miracles always will make our growth stunted and make us spoilt kids. God has something better.

On the other hand, let’s not go to the other extreme where we regard miracles as a thing of the past. That would be unbelief in itself and amount to putting God in a box. Let God be God! He works miracles even in this day and age. He said, ‘I am the Lord, I change not.’ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, to day and forever.

In our sojourn to the Promised Land, God is building our character-the whole being. Let’s expect miracles but in His own terms at the time He chooses. Let’s eat His Word, chew it, digest it, meditate on it, practice it, mix faith with it; buy the heavenly goodies with the currency of faith. Let’s be wise to know when we are being tested and endure hardness as good soldiers of Christ and pass the tests that come our way and move up higher to His glory.

Copy it rightly

By Dr.Arsenio Esteras, Jr

DOMINUS VOBISCUM!

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Therefore, I believe in miracles. If I do not believe in God, how can I believe in miracles? Miracles are not natural human acts. Miracles are divine acts. All acts of God are divine.

God told Sarah, the wife of the patriarch Abraham that she will bear a son even though she is barren and advanced in age. She did give birth to a son named Isaac. It was a miracle. The Son of Man restored back to natural life the decomposing remains of Lazarus. It was a miracle. The Son of Man healed in a flash and in effortless haste ten lepers. It was a miracle. On a mountainside, the Son of Man multiplied a few loaves to so many to feed a multitude. There were leftovers. It was a miracle. The preceding enumerated miracles have one thing in common. They had a positive transforming effect upon the creatures upon which it was applied. The results were good and benefited the human persons involved.

God in His divine anger transformed Adam and Eve from divine immortal persons to human mortal persons after they ate the forbidden fruit and their subsequent shallow defense of their woeful deeds. It was a miracle. Lot’s wife was transformed to salt after she failed to heed the prohibition not to look back to the city that is being divinely destroyed. It was a miracle. The Son of Man cursed a fruitless fig tree with the holy utterance, “Never again shall you bear fruit!” It withered instantaneously immediately after the holy utterance witnessed by the lucky dozen men that He chose. It was a miracle. The preceding enumerated miracles have one thing in common. They had a negative catastrophic effect upon the creatures upon which it was applied. The results were bad. It downgraded and/or extinguished the creatures involved.

On Mount Tabor, the Son of Man transfigured Himself witnessed by His apostles Peter, James and John. It was a miracle. Three days after His barbaric slaughter He woke up from His breathless slumber almost unscathed. It was a miracle. On the Mount of Olives, He ascended to heaven body and soul accompanied by a battalion of angels His loyal subjects and witnessed first hand by His disciples. It was a miracle. The preceding enumerated miracles have one thing in common. They were all acts of glory at the highest level by the Son of Man who is God. They are patented signature acts.

In the olden times, the angel Raphael healed the blindness of Tobit. It was a miracle. During Abraham’s watch, the angels that accompanied Lot to his dwelling place in the sin city of Sodom blinded the neighbors of Lot who were forcibly making their entry to Lot’s house to molest his guests. It was a miracle. In the New Testament, the angel Gabriel made Zechariah, the husband of Elizabeth, mute for his unbelief. It was a miracle. The preceding enumerated miracles have one thing in common. They were all done by angels. Angels are not human persons. They are divine persons. They belong to God as a branch to a tree or as a river to the sea. Hence, they can perform miracles if ordered by God. They are the subjects of God in his kingdom known as heaven where all acts are divine and never human and natural.

The apostles after the Pentecost were able to heal and cure sick people and exorcise demons in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Miracles were done through them. During his stint on “Mother Earth” in his native soil as a Capuchin friar, Padre Pio was reported to have healed quite a number of sick people from all walks of life. Miracles were done through him. In these contemporary times, Fr. Fernando Suarez of the Canada based Companions of the Cross became a hot commodity in the Catholic world for the numerous healings that emanated from his hand. Miracles were done through him. The preceding miracles have one thing in common. They involved human and not divine persons. Yet, all of them did not claim they did it on their own power. They acknowledged they were only vessels or instruments of the divine power of God. As always God chooses human persons as miracle workers from generation to generation to remind humanity of His existence. However, He is always very discriminating in His choice.

Miracles are acts of inhabitants not of this “Mother Earth” but inhabitants of heaven that Adam and Eve turned their backs from. The inhabitants of heaven are divine beings. There are no human beings there. Human beings are limited to this terrestrial world. They are markedly inferior beings relative to God and His angels. They cannot perform miracles on their own. It takes an act of God for them to be able to perform an out-of-this-world act called miracle. Less spectacular miracles happen almost everyday among ordinary and faceless people. They do not generate interest because they are not spectacular and they involve unknowns or even less than ordinary individuals. Nonetheless, “even the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.” Such is the miracle of the unnoticed but blessed.

By Okwudili Umeweni

What a wonderful sleep I was having that cold morning of December, years ago in the small room I shared with my friend off campus. The compound had no fence but it contained close to fifty rooms similar to mine, all filled with students except for a mother and her newly born baby.

All of a sudden, I was awoken by a scream let out by a neighbor. I got up from my bed and the clock said some minutes past 1a.m. The screaming repeated itself. Now it was followed by a hush from a bolder voice.

Then it dawned on me that armed robbers have invaded our compound. I woke my room mate and informed him. We were both jittery and confused.

“What are we going to do?” we asked ourselves.

“The worst part of it all is that I have no money in the house,” came my now extremely frightened room mate, “Hope you do”.

I brought out the SIM card from my phone and kept it aside incase they had wanted the phone.

Now, they were now in our next-wall-neighbors’ rooms. Three in each room, as we noted from their voices. We then knew our room (which was in-between) was next.

While I was still bringing out my phone and money in preparation for their arrival, a verse from the scripture was immediately laid to my heart; where Paul was held captive with some other men in the Ship and there arose a great storm at sea. Paul’s words,

“And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, saying, Fear not, Paul” (Acts 27:22-24 KJV) came deep down in my spirit.

This was actually the work of the Holy Spirit as I immediately felt doubled! I, who was once full of fear, was now extremely bold!

I turned to my still panicky room mate and summoned him for joint prayers. He quickly agreed, having always known I believe so much in prayers. After the prayers, I told him to watch out and see God’s intervention in our lives. I was so much full of faith now.

Simultaneously, the six armed robbers who were in my two next-wall-neighbors’ rooms came out. It was now turn for our room to be robbed.

Our door was just a wooden one any child could break easily by just a kick. Though the robbers never needed to break it because all they did was stand afar from the door and command you to open up immediately with a countdown.

As soon as the six men came in front of my door, they stupidly began to ask themselves, “Have you searched this room?”

They all kept silent in reply as they asked one another this question repeatedly.

That was how the six hefty men foolishly and confusedly left my room to others’. It was indeed a miracle!

It was later in the morning, that I saw victims of the robbery with broken heads and knees; the thoroughly beaten ones; persons who fainted; the badly wounded security men who came to intervene; and those that had huge sums of their money and valued properties stolen.

My room was the only visible room that was not tampered with. It happened insomuch that even those who have always known me as being honest joined in accusing me of planning the armed robbery attack. I just smiled within me.

Those who saw the criminals said they were up to 18 in number with sophisticated guns and weapons.

It was indeed a night not to forget in a hurry not only because of its terror but also because of God’s miraculous protection upon my life which later caused a great revival in that compound.
Perhaps you are in great fear of one thing or the other, the one who made a whole Red Sea divide can make ALL things possible for you. Hear God’s Word:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy1:7 KJV).

“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them” (Psalms 34:7 KJV).

“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continuously before me” (Isaiah 49:16 KJV).

These and many more!
