How To Change Your Life

By Sierra Mackenzie

Paul tells us in Ephesians that God will grant you according to His riches in glory, to be strengthened with might by His spirit in the inner man. Strength by the Spirit of God is the most desirable strength. It is not within you to develop this strength through strength training, working out or going to the gym. It is the strength of heart and spirit inside each of us, and it cannot be gained physically. It is a spiritual growth obtained through God.

Spiritual growth is a changing growth. We cannot remain unchanged on the outside if we do not change on the inside. Ephesians 4:11 says walk worthy of the vocation to which you are called. Once you become a Christian, you have a new vocation. Your change should be revealed to those around you by actions and deeds. Everything you do should reflect that you now work for God.

You have gained a changed heart, and are now aware of the world around you so that you no longer participate in worldly acts. Your thoughts will change, and you will become a changed person as you change through the Holy Spirit who lives in you. You will no longer desire things of your past life. You will no longer walk with vanity in your mind‘s desire for material possessions, but will strive instead to please God.

Here comes Satan.

When you change on the inside and act differently on the outside, Satan is going to become your worst harasser. Thoughts will enter your mind, but you shouldn’t dwell on them. You are strengthened with the might of God’s Spirit to change your thoughts.

We all have terrible thoughts at times. Some of these thoughts are too terrible to mention, and they come from Satan in his battle to win over your mind. He wants control; he wants to maneuver you away from God. You have the strength to put him out. Speak directly to him as Jesus spoke to him by saying Get behind me Satan.” Or “Be gone!” Satan has no power. Jesus has the victory.

Learn to take control of your inner self. Put out the devil so you don’t have evil thoughts. Don’t dwell on the passive things like the past, which cannot be changed or Satan will attack. Think of positive things like the present and the future.

Open your heart to prayer. Pray unceasingly. God will hear your prayers and recognize your voice and heart. He knew you before you were born. He chose you to be with Him on high, but Satan is a crafty and dangerous threat, waiting to devour your very soul. Through prayer you can change. Talk to God every day. You don’t have to be on your knees or in church, or even at the dinner table giving thanks, but you can talk to Him while driving to work, while on coffee break, or doing the laundry. Constant communication is how we pray unceasingly. Constant prayer will change your life.
