I am angry

By Jack Vorster

This is about The United States of America.

I look at a country purportedly to be a nation that puts her trust in God well, perhaps some time ago.

And in that country there is a plethora of churches with preachers and teachers reaching thousands of congregation members and television viewers, but they fail to make an impression on the elected leaders of the country. And this is what makes me angry.

How on earth can a country with such a huge Christian weight have no effect on a government with so much evil intent? It is a government that has legalized abortion at least 50 million unborn babies murdered within the last 30 years in America.

It is a government that has banned the Name of Jesus in schools and public places.

It is a government that has outlawed the Christian faith in the military, but has legalised Satanism therein.

It is a government that allows fame and fortune to sex moguls and their porno magazines.

It is a government that has banned Christian home cell meetings because of a few cars taking up space in the street, but the many vehicles outside homes where rowdy, wild teenage parties take place seem to present no such problem.

It is a government that sees no wrong in Hollywood filmmakers scripting the Name of Jesus Christ as a first-choice swear word in their films.

And so it goes on while many of America’s iconic pastors sell their wares on the TBN channel with the promise of financial windfalls from God to those viewers who support them as “partners” in their ministry. Yes, many of them do have a ministry helping the poor in foreign countries using the millions of dollars coming in from viewers, but how much of it do they retain to support their own luxurious lifestyles while enjoying tax exemption to boot? Is tax exemption the main reason for their zipped lips against the anti-Christ antics of the government under which they serve? Obviously, boldly exporting the Christian faith to foreign countries poses no threat, but boldly exposing the American government in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a major threat to their Laodicean-style complacency.

Many of these American church leaders do, at times, indeed voice their anti-government opinion from the pulpit (as evident in their TBN slots), but it reaches no further than the ears of the congregation and this suits the government just fine.

Make no mistake, there are some fine Christian preachers and teachers making use of the TBN channel, but they, too, are basking in the affluence of their tax-exempted privilege as if the government is a sleeping dog that should be left undisturbed.

If the Apostle Paul and just a few of his Christian followers were alive in America today they would turn the American government upside down without the help of the thousands claiming to be church leaders and the millions following them while seated in their pews – tax exemption or not.

Will the words of Jesus, “I never knew you” (Matt. 7:23) reverberate through the “church” leadership ranks in America in the not-too-distant future? Will Jesus form the highest hill in America after He is done spewing out church leaders and their congregation members in America in the light of Rev. 3:16?

Wake up Church leadership in America! You know what needs to be done. Get together, stand together – and do it.

Or perhaps I’m wrong. Perhaps you prefer making financial hay while the sun shines regardless of the consequences.
