Psalm 23 (New International Version)

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness

for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk

through the valley of the shadow of death, [

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD

forever.

PSALM 23 FROM A DOG’S POINT OF VIEW

A PSALM OF GINGER

1. My master is my leader, I shall lack nothing.

2. He makes me lie down in a wonderful safe place, he provides me water when I need it.

3. When I am down he caresses my being and leads me to do right. He does this because I am his beloved dog.

4. When I walk in the path of the javalinas or fast cars, I will not be afraid, my master is with me. His ski pole will keep me safe, and that will be of great comfort to me.

5. He provides good food for me twice a day and sets it right in front of the cats. When I am hurting he caresses me and gives me meds. Oh, I love him so.

6. As long as I live, my master’s love and goodness will follow me, and I will be at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for my master to tell me, “Come in beloved.”

1. Read and discuss Psalm 23 from the Bible. How does this Psalm impact your life?

2. Now read the psalm from Ginger’s point of view.

3. Next, write out the psalm according to you or one of your family members or pets.

4. Discuss what you have written with the group and close in prayer.
