When I was 4 years old, I was swimming at the beach with my family. I was in knee deep water when all of a sudden I stepped into a hole that went over my head. It turned out to be an undertow. The suction was so strong; I could barely keep my head above water. I struggled to get out but nothing seemed to help. I was terrified that I was about to drown! Right when I thought I couldn’t stay above water any longer, a couple nearby spotted me. The man reached his hand out and pulled me from death’s grip. I was exhausted and scared, but so very thankful for this stranger’s saving hand. (more…)

I know what FLUFF is…and I Know What Fluff Isn’t!
Posted in: Christian Living Tags: bible, Christianity, Evangelism, god, Holy Spirit, Jesus, Personal god, Religion and Spirituality
By Tara Roper
Fluff is, simply put, sinfully good. Here in the south, it is referred to as Marshmallow cream. That just doesn’t seem to do it justice though. Where I grew up, in the north, the word fluff had meaning. It was the really great “extra” on a peanut butter sandwich that you got if you had done something really good for your mom before she made lunch. (more…)
Water for the parched and weary land
By Kathleen D. Angell
I was in a circumstance today that I realized how much the Body of Christ can be thirsty for Love.
I’m often not attentive to others needs. Maybe it is a child’s or a teens needs, or just someone there in my day, that they just needed to know a touch of Jesus’ love, have some time given for conversation and time to give to them to love and care about them in Jesus’ love. There are times that I miss the opportunity, and I wasn’t attentive to love them well, to give them a drink of water. (more…)
You Made Me Lord ~ Psalm 139, Part 3
Posted in: Beliefs Tags: Christianity, Church, Evangelism, family, god, Jesus, psalms, Religion and Spirituality
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marveloushow well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!” ~ Psalm 139:13-18 (more…)
You’re With Me Lord – Psalm 139, Part 2
Posted in: Beliefs Tags: bible, Christianity, Evangelism, god, Holy Spirit, Jesus, lord, Religion and Spirituality
“I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.” ~ Psalm 139:7-12 (more…)

“O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!” ~ Psalm 139:1-6 (more…)
The Tolerance of Evil
Posted in: Christianity Tags: Christianity, Evangelism, god, Hank Hanegraaff, Jesus, New King James Version, Religion and Spirituality, salvation
By William Mellen
Reading the all-too-often tragic headlines of any newspaper today makes one wonder whether or not God really has any control over the things of this life. Well, God can control all things and is, in fact, in control of all things. So then, why does God tolerate the presence of evil? And why does He allow bad things to happen to good people? As James Gray points out, questions such as these are “often asked with the hope of finding some flaws in God’s character whereby He may be blamed, and man in some sense justified. But it is always a failure.”[1] For, God is blameless and holy, we are sinful and imperfect. (more…)
One True God

Is. 45:20-25 There is one and only one God! Those who pray to other gods are praying to a dead stick that cannot answer. Many in our day say that it does not matter what religion you are that all religions and paths lead to the same place. That is a flat out lie from the devil. But in a sense I guess they are right, all so called religions, apart from salvation through Jesus, do lead to the same place, but it is not heaven. There is only one God and there is only salvation through one man and that is Jesus! Acts 4:12 (more…)
I Need to Trust Myself Trusting in God

By Stanley Hasegawa
Help me to trust you more, Lord. Allow me to trust myself trusting in you. Things don’t turn out the way I think they should. I seem to spend a lot of time accomplishing very little. I give up or give out so easily. Help me to persevere, to work on in hope in spite of past failures. Help me to trust myself trusting in you so I can work with your energy in me and sustain doing my best for you. (more…)
Loneliness

Loneliness is about alien-ness, distance, disconnectedness, helplessness, forsakenness all shot through with a painful sense of not being valued or loved.
Loneliness can happen to us when we are aliens, strangers.
“He was in the world, and the world was created by him, but the world did not recognize him.” (John 1:10)
If Jesus our Lord was treated as a stranger by the world, we will be too. (more…)
Change Is A Choice!

In John chapter 5 verses 1 thru 9, we read the account of Jesus healing a lame man that had been sick for 38 years. Can you imagine having some ailment or issue for 38 years? In John 5:1-9, the bible says, 1 Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. 2 Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda,[a] with five covered porches. 3 Crowds of sick people, blind, lame, or paralyzed lay on the porches.[b] 5 One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” 7 “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.” 8 Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” 9 Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, (more…)
Why is God Silent When You Need Him Most to Speak?
Posted in: Christian Living Tags: Christianity, Evangelism, god, Heartbeat, Intimate relationship, Jesus, Marriage, Religion and Spirituality
By Sharon Pratt
Why is it that sometimes when you most need God to speak clearly and distinctly…it seems He is silent? That is where I have been all week. I really, really, really need Him to speak to me…and all I hear is this deafening silence!
Whenever I have experienced this in the past…it has been difficult and somewhat painful to endure. I am accustomed to spending my “quiet time” with God in just that state: QUIET. Very often I hear from people “I wish God would speak to me”. I usually ask them “How do you spend your quiet time with God?” (more…)

Stepping out of the boat!

How many times in my life I should have stepped out of the boat in faith! This has got to be my favorite NT story of all. This story of Jesus walking on water in the mist of the storm has so much meaning and power in it! It has drastically helped me in my present walk with the Lord. (more…)
