Aspects of Love – Patience
By Hon Wei Chan
Love is really the in-thing nowadays. People sing about love, movies are themed around love, books about love are bound to be bestsellers. Love sells but what is love?
Does the world portray an accurate picture of love? Does the church portray an accurate picture of love? Maybe, a good place to start really is in the famous Love chapter of Paul namely 1 Corinthians 13 written about Agape – the love of God.
The last thing we all need is a dictionary definition of God’s love. But rather, I would like to explore the different aspects of love. And the first aspect I would like to indulge in is this, taken from the New Testament is the Patience of God. (more…)
What Has Happened to Community?
In so many ways, the 21st century church has failed to accomplish God’s plan for her. When we look at the early church in the Book of Acts, we can see so many areas where we have fallen away. Twelve times in the book of Acts, the phrase “one accord” is used, but unity and community had a different meaning then.
There is so much talk today about community–living in oneness and unity, in one accord as the New Testament Church did. Having fellowship with one another seems to be the emphasis in so many churches today, but true community is found only in communing with God. (more…)

The Bible is divided into two parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is represented by the country of Israel. The laws of God were given to the Israelites along with the blessings and the covering of sin through the required sacrifices. All the prophecies about Jesus and the end times are also covered in the Old Testament. The New Testament tells of those prophecies fulfilled through Jesus Christ. (more…)

Where does the Allmighty stand on our perseptions of hell?
By paul killingbeck
The requirements of one seeking the truth of God on matters such as hell, takes a well committed individual that seeks God through his word; The Holy Bible. Both old and new Testiments need to be deeply investigated in order for one to get a clearer understanding of God and his desire for his creation to receive righteousness. Not all humankind have the abilities to conceive the wisdom that is offered here. It takes commitment to God through our Lord Jesus Christ, which begins upon what Christians call rebirth. Seek ye first the kingdom of God. From Jesus’ own lips, came the command for those who would overcome the temptations of life by dedicating their love to him because of their new found life of a forgiven sinner. (more…)

Read It, Believe It, Live It
By Steve Countryman
The Holy Bible has been around for over three millennia. It was written over a 1500-year period by 40 authors ranging from every walk of life including kings, peasants, shepherds, philosophers, fishermen, poets, statesmen, scholars, etc., and written in different locations. God’s Word doesn’t contradict itself. The Old Testament foretells of the coming of Christ. The New Testament tells of His birth through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. It tells how we are to live, believe and act as children of the Most High God. It tells of what was, is and is yet to come and how we will all live in eternity. Through centuries of transcribing, translating into over 2100 languages and found on every continent on the planet, the integrity of the Holy Bible stands as the most accurately reproduced piece of literature ever written. Unfaithful Pastors And Leaders: How Should We Respond To Them
Posted in: bible studies Tags: Apostles, bible, bible studies, New Testament, Old Testament, priests, prophets
Although our natural inclination is to look to our religious leaders for spiritual insight and direction, we should not be surprised to find them adrift in compromise and sin. The Bible reveals that the religious hierarchy has gone astray throughout biblical history. There has been a long line of unfaithful and disobedient priests, prophets, apostles, teachers and ministers throughout both Old and New Testament times; furthermore, we are told that this problem will continue to worsen as we approach the end of time. Women Pastors And Elders
Women pastors and elders are now being ordained throughout most Christian denominations. However, some still maintain that men and women have been assigned different roles in the Church, with men being designated by God for leadership; although the majority insists that this “male leadership” exclusivity does not apply to the New Testament Church. The Book of Daniel chapters 8-11
The Old Testament Book of Daniel is probably one of the more interesting narratives in the entire canon of Scripture, with the possible exception of the enigmatic Books of Ezekiel, and Revelation in the New Testament. There is quite a remarkable connection between the two books [Daniel and Revelation] because the narratives overlap in several places; especially in these last few chapters. The most notable passage is found in the ninth chapter, which refers to “Messiah the Prince” and most Fundamental Christian Theologians and Messianic Jewish scholarship believe 1 Daniel 9: 24-25 to refer to the person of Jesus [Yeshua] of Nazareth, the holy seed of the Virgin Mary, came into the world around 6 B.C. in the city of Bethlehem, in Judea. And while this is a very convincing and plausible interpretation, yet, the context has to be taken into consideration by reading chapters 8 thru 11, for the most part. (more…)
“Job” in the New Testament
By Fergus Davar
Hi people I am writing again. Yes, this to is from a sermon I heard today at Church by a visiting Pastor. The Word today is from the book of Job from the Old Testament of the Bible. I have previously written using extractions from the book of Job but that was on a different topic “God is Sovereign”, this time the aim is to show you how to trust God even in the face of trouble. I will use this man of God, Job for an example. (more…)
Did Luke the Physician Write the Book of Acts?
Posted in: bible studies Tags: Acts, apostle, bible studies, Christianity, Faith, lord, New Testament
Tradition has it that the author of the gospel of “LUKE” and “ACTS” of the Apostles were written by the same individual, and that is by, Luke the ‘beloved’ Physician. Although it is difficult to prove with absolute certainty, there may have in fact been more than just a single source for the events recorded in the book of ACTS. Almost the entire first half of the book highlights the ministry of the Apostle Peter, and there is no internal or external evidence that Peter and Luke ever knew each other.
Not only that, but the author of ACTS would most likely be acquainted with both Peter and Paul. Some have argued that the Greek text used in the gospel of LUKE and ACTS is more of the classical style and more advanced than some of ‘KOINE’(common Greek) used in other New Testament writings; but considering Paul’s ministry and making converts from Hellenistic Jews among the epicenter of Greek culture in Europe and the civilized world at that time, then it should not come as too much of a surprise. Ecclesiasticus 39: 1-10
John 15: 7-11
Psalm 139: 1-9
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Let us speak of Holiness this morning, God’s Holiness, as we learn of Bernard of Clairvaux. This is his Feast Day in our Episcopal Church.
From a hymn attributed to Bernard of Clairvaux, Abbot, born in 1090, at Fontaines, near Dijon, France:
My Shepherd, now receive me; my Guardian, own me Thine.
Great blessings Thou didst give me, O source of gifts divine.
Thy lips have often fed me with words of truth and love;
Thy Spirit oft hath led me to heavenly joys above. (more…)

Paul previously made the case that God’s wisdom is not like human wisdom, that the best wisdom, intelligence and scholarship that man has to offer is foolishness compared to God’s wisdom, the wisdom of Scripture. Paul made the case for the necessity of regeneration and/or conversion from the mindset of the world to the mindset of Christ. To become a Christian is to undergo a complete change of heart and of mind. (more…)

Acts 11:20
And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
a. Grecians [1675 * Hellenistes] [Zodhiates: a Jew by birth or religion who speaks Greek, used chiefly of foreign Jews”
1). The Book of Acts, Stanley M. Horton, p140, Note 4.: “Many ancient manuscripts have the word here for “Greek speakers” which is sometimes used for Greek speaking Jews, but in the context it clearly means Greek-speaking Gentiles.”
2). The Robert E. Tourville, p.217. “Some believers were so zealous for Christ that they could not limit their witness to Jews alone. These were from Cyprus and Cyrene. They “began speaking to the Greeks (Hellenas) also.” There are variants to this reading among the MSS but this is doubtless the correct text from manuscript evidence; also because the text would be pointless if these believers spoke to Greek-speaking Jews (hellenistas, 6:1). It is evident that this witnessing was a departure from the “Jews only” of the preceeding verse.” (more…)

Perhaps the most well-known Jewish prayer is the “Shema”. This prayer is recited twice per day (morning and evening). The prayer is translated as “Hear Israel”, and refers to the entire verse “Hear O Israel, the Lord Thy God, the Lord is One.” (more…)
