Two Gates-Two Paths

When I was 4 years old, I was swimming at the beach with my family. I was in knee deep water when all of a sudden I stepped into a hole that went over my head. It turned out to be an undertow. The suction was so strong; I could barely keep my head above water. I struggled to get out but nothing seemed to help. I was terrified that I was about to drown! Right when I thought I couldn’t stay above water any longer, a couple nearby spotted me. The man reached his hand out and pulled me from death’s grip. I was exhausted and scared, but so very thankful for this stranger’s saving hand. (more…)
Loneliness

Loneliness is about alien-ness, distance, disconnectedness, helplessness, forsakenness all shot through with a painful sense of not being valued or loved.
Loneliness can happen to us when we are aliens, strangers.
“He was in the world, and the world was created by him, but the world did not recognize him.” (John 1:10)
If Jesus our Lord was treated as a stranger by the world, we will be too. (more…)
What is the State of the Christian
Posted in: Church Tags: Christianity, Christians, god, Henry Clay, Jesus, Michael Horton, Religion, Religion and Spirituality, Saint Paul
Christians must examine themselves in light of the word of God. “I wish Mr. (or Mrs.) X could have heard that sermon. It’s just what he needed,” said Mr. Y as he shook my hand after the worship service. The state of the Christian is sad when Christians avoid self-examination. Christian, examine yourself, not your neighbor, the church, or the world. Examine your real self, your inward self, not the outward appearance. Examine yourself at the present time, not the past, nor what you expect to be in the future. Examine yourself according to the word of God, the whole counsel of God, not according to some spoof text to defend your views and not according to your own subjective feelings. (more…)
God’s Covenant with Moses

Moses was pasturing the flock of his father-in-law Jethro in the south west part of the Sinai Peninsula on the west side of Horeb, another name for Mt Sinai, when the Lord spoke to him from a burning bush. Here is good news for all the children of God in troubled times. The Lord told Moses He has seen the affliction of His people who are in Egypt and heard their cries because of the taskmasters and has come down to deliver them from the hand of the Egyptians and bring them into a land flowing with milk and honey (Exodus 3:7-8).
What is amazing is the Lord is not going to send a company of angels to defeat the army of Egypt and free the sons of Israel from slavery and oppression in Egypt. Instead, He is going to Moses who fled Egypt because Pharaoh was seeking to kill him because he had killed an Egyptian who was beating one of the sons of Israel; as a result Moses spends nearly forty years of his life pasturing a flock that is not his. Moses will wander in the wilderness with his father-in-law’s flock until the Pharaoh who was seeking to kill him is replaced by a Pharaoh who does not know Moses and his past. (more…)

Living Out Your Freedom

‘Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.’- 2 Cor.3:17(NIV).
If one must experience the freedom that God gives he must be involved in what the Spirit of God is involved, be where He (the Spirit of God) is. And talking about the New Covenant, this is where the Spirit of God is. This is what He is involved in now, and every other thing in God’s program that revolves or evolves from it. (more…)

True Vision
By Onyekachukwu Ukeje
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”- Matt.6:19-24(NIV). (more…)
The Call of Abraham
By Paul George
Abraham aka Abram. The events in the Middle East that have had a major impact on humanity and history in the past, in the present and will have in the future are traceable back to Abraham. In Genesis chapter eleven verses twenty-seven through thirty-two it is written, “Now this is the history of the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran became the father of Lot. Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees. Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran who was also the father of Iscah. Sarai was barren. She had no child. Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife. They went forth from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan. They came to Haran and lived there. The days of Terah were two hundred five years. Terah died in Haran.” (more…)

I Want to Learn Patience – Now!
By Alan Allegra
Let’s start with a quiz. How many New Year’s resolutions have you broken so far? I get trapped in the vicious circle: If I make resolutions, I break them. If I resolve not to make resolutions, then I’ve made a resolution. If I break that, I’ll have to make resolutions and probably break them. I can’t win. (more…)
