Excerpts From My Paper, “Verse-by-Verse Studies Of Selected Prophecies From The Book Of Jeremiah,” Part 3
By Karl Kemp
We will continue the verse-by-verse study of Jeremiah chapter 30, starting at verse 12, then we will go on to a verse-by-verse study of Jeremiah chapter 31.
I want to repeat what I said at the beginning of Jeremiah chapter 30: This chapter is very important, so I didn’t want to skip it here, but the format used here (without my being able to use bold lettering for the verses that we are studying, or footnotes, italics, etc. may make it a little difficult to read for some readers. For one thing I had quite a few footnotes in the original paper, and I get into a lot of details. If you prefer you can go to my website and read this chapter (or the entire paper) in a format where I was able to use bold lettering, footnotes, italics, etc. (more…)
The Spirit against the flesh
The Spirit against the flesh
Galatians 5:17 tells us that the Spirit is against the flesh. They are contrary to one another and we are sometimes unable to do what God wants us to do. Paul said in Romans 7:21,22- I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: Our inward man wants to do God’s will. What can tip the balance? How do we overcome our old self that is contrary to the will of God? (more…)
What is your true desire?
A wonderful woman of God spoke a message entitled ‘What is your wants?’ She asked us to think about what we wanted in life? After five minutes of thinking time she then turned the message around to what God wants from us she read the scripture John 4:23-24 ‘Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (more…)
Called to be different
In the days of old, Jewish worship consisted of high priests who had to make penance for his own and the people’s sins every once a year. This was a serious affair that entailed that the priest to first be right with God lest he die. Leviticus 21:6, 8 describes the qualification of the priest, top of which was holiness. (more…)
Born Again

Many years ago, Jesus said to Nicodemus, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless he is born of the water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to the flesh but the Spirit gives birth to the spirit”. (John 3:5).
Two simple words, born again, yet they are two of the most profound and important words in scripture. (more…)
1 Peter 1:13
By Don Costello
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1. “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind”
a. gird [328 * anazonnymi] [Zodhiates: Occurs only in 1 Peter 1:13, where it is applied to the mind being held in constant prepraration. It is taken from the custom of the eastern nations who, when they had occasion to exert themselves (as in journeying, running, etc.), used to bind up their long flowing garments by a girdle or belt about their hips. [Vine: the Christian is to have his mental powers alert in expectation of Christ's coming.] [Bullinger: to gird up as with a belt.] (more…)

There was a time in my life when I felt I had lost my joy. I felt miserable. I didn’t want to do anything or be around anybody. But slowly and surely, my joy returned as I began to rest more on the Lord. My strength returned too. Nehemiah 8:10 says this: “for the joy of the LORD is your/(my) strength.” This is such a great verse for any Christian to know whether young or old. Try this fun Sunday School lesson from the Bible to help your kids learn this great Scripture by heart. It’s called “Popping for Joy!” (more…)
Ask and Believe Then Leave the Results to God
By Rhonda Jones
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer,” declares Matthew 21:22. Many Christians are aware of a type of prosperity Christianity that tells us if we have enough faith, we can receive from God whatever we desire. Such terms as “name it and claim it” depict that all we have to do it express our desires to God and He is just standing by to fulfill our every wimp and want. (more…)
5 W Questions for the Story of “The Wise Men Following the Star” from Matthew 2
I think my favorite figurines in our manger scene we put up at Christmas time are the 3 wise men. Even as a little girl, they were the ones I would play with and enjoy pretending that they were bringing gifts to the baby Jesus. The story of the wise men following the majestic star in the sky is one that your kids will enjoy as well.
Here are seventeen 5 “W” questions who, what, when, where, why and how – with their answers for the story of “The Wise Men Following the Star” found in Matthew 2:1-11. These questions can be used with both young children and elementary children. Just be ready to tweak them a little bit for the appropriate age. You can also read a verse first, and then ask the question or you can read the whole passage of Scripture and then ask the questions. Your younger children might enjoy having some kind of puppet ask the questions. Have fun! (more…)
New Creations A Super Bible School Activity for Your Elementary Kids
One of the most beautiful transformations in all of nature has to be the caterpillar becoming a butterfly. The old has gone, the new has come. Second Corinthians 5:17 is the ultimate showcase verse for this amazing principle, which says, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone, the new has come.” As God’s children, we may not have sprouted wings on the day of our second birth, but we are changing from glory to glory and one day we will shed these old bodies and put on a new body far greater than we can even imagine! I think 2 Corinthians 5:17 is a hallmark Scripture that every Christian should have memorized, so here is a fun Bible school activity you can play with your children to help them memorize it as well. What the Devil Does Not Want You To Know
By Rick King
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
We talk often about the fruit of the spirit. We know the fruit of God’s spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5: 22 and 23). This is the fruit of a godly spirit. But what about the fruit of an ungodly spirit? (more…)
What is “blaspheming the Holy Spirit,” the unforgivable sin?
By Jim Barringer
One of Jesus’ more cryptic sayings appears in two of the four gospels, Matthew 12 and Mark 3, where he drops a disturbing reference to an “unforgivable sin,” which he describes as “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.” A lot of the Christians I know have wondered – some just once, some in daily terror – whether they have committed this sin, and whether they will find themselves unexpectedly shut out of an eternal reward after a lifetime of following God in vain. I would like to explore the issue a little, using Scripture to define “blasphemy” and then demonstrating that blasphemy against the Spirit is not something any Christian can commit. (more…)

In John chapter 5 verses 1 thru 9, we read the account of Jesus healing a lame man that had been sick for 38 years. Can you imagine having some ailment or issue for 38 years? In John 5:1-9, the bible says, 1 Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days. 2 Inside the city, near the Sheep Gate, was the pool of Bethesda,[a] with five covered porches. 3 Crowds of sick people, blind, lame, or paralyzed lay on the porches.[b] 5 One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” 7 “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.” 8 Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” 9 Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, (more…)
